Its not ok on the first couple of dates. I actually like a man who is frugal but it shows lack of interest until we know each other a little better.
Im a small girl and rarely eat all my food. If im on a first date and really like the guy, no to go box. If he is mediocre then, to go box please.

on a first date, when asked what my preference was, I suggested a restaurant that I had a gift card for.
It threw the guy for a bit of a loop, but I told him that I had been meaning to try the place out so why don't we try it out together. If the food sucked, at least we weren't out our own money.
I really wouldnt have a problem with a date using a coupon.
I never mind a date being smart with their money. That being said I'm not a fan of total penny pinchers and cheapskates. to me, there's a difference between being smart or frugal with your money and being cheap and this doesn't just apply to dating or men.

One of the best first dates I had we went to Wendy's for there $1 menu, we each had a Jr bacon cheese burger, a value fry, and a value drink came to $6.50 then we went to an action SciFi $1 movie, we spent 3 hours in the car talking and laughing after the movie. I ended up dating him for 2 years. After a first date that cost less then $10

When planning a first date, I usually plan inexpensive dates. Mexican food is good and inexpensive.
I used that same subway coupon a month ago. My daughter had a friend over and it was a cheap way to feed them for 2 meals. Also that day we took my daughters old clothes to a consignment shop and picked up money they owed me. Then when paying at walmart I had my daughter put my extra change in before the Benjamin's. My daughter asked, have you thought about your life choices lol. It was kind of a joke because she is 13 and knows Im about 4 years away from having her a house paid for.
But I still think a coupon on a first date is tacky.

It's ok to use coupons. I don't have a problem with it. Being smart with money is a good thing. There is nothing wrong with saving money. I print out coupons, & look for coupons on the internet before I go shopping. I look for things to be onsale before I buy it.
Target has cartwheel & red card so you can get 5% off.
If you buy clothes at the end of the season it's a lot cheaper. You save a lot of money. You pay $20.00 for a $80.00 dollars dress, shoes, & purse. If you buy Halloween candies, costumes, Easter candies, Christmas items after the holidays, it's 80% cheaper than the original price. The week after Christmas all the items go onsale & it's much cheaper. You will save a lot of money that way.
I look for walmart & target clearance sales too.
OP, you should check out ulta on YouTube. So these young girls in their 20's go dumpster diving at ulta with their friends, or they go with their mothers. They go through the garbage that ulta threw out. And they picked up brand new cosmetics, makeup worth $4,000 dollars. You go there when the stores are closed, then you go through the garbage cans to see what the stores have thrown out. So ulta noticed that too many girls & women are going through their garbage cans, they started pouring bleach on all of their garbage, to stop people from going through their garbage.
But be careful with the cops though. I think dumpster diving is trespassing & it's illegal. You get a trigger happy cop, & he will pull the trigger. He will look for any excuse to shoot you dead. Dumpster diving can be dangerous, you're going through the stores garbage cans in the back of the stores, but you're also trespassing. A crazy cop might look for an excuse to shoot at you & kill you.
Dumpster diving = you go through garbage cans to look for things you need or want. It's trespassing & it's illegal. Watch out for the cops & the security guards.

Oh snap! They have Walmart in canada too. I didn't know they are international.
In New York City on garbage pick up day, the night before you will see a lot of people going through the garbage cans looking for food. But the people doing this are not homeless people. They are mothers, teachers from public schools, & police officers.
Trader Joe, & whole food throw out good quality food that expire in 5 days. So if you eat it within 5 days it's still good. Teachers & police only make $40,000 year,
but a 1 bedroom is $4,000 per month in New York City,
$1,500 per month in a black neighborhood in NYC.

Best steak I've ever had in my life was in Ohio. The buckeye saloon it was called or something like that, on the river.

I think they find out what day garbage pickup is on, so they can go there the night before to scoop up all the free food. They probably live in a poor neighborhood, they only go there (NYC) on garbage night for the free food.
You can find out & look up a lot of things on the internet. Like what day is garbage pick up on, you go there the night before for the free food.
Costco, trader joe, wholefood, supermarkets good places for free food, on garbage pickup nights. They pick up the trash twice per week in NYC. It's a free service in NYC. You pay for this service through paying your taxes whether you need the service or not. It's forced on you if you live there.
Sanitation workers make $80,000 per year & they get health insurance. Bus drivers make $55,000 per year with health insurance. Paid holidays, & 2 weeks paid vacations per year.
