The first good tip that I can give you about Florida is, don't go there in August. That is their hottest and most humid month of the year. From November to May are much better months there. But if you don't have a choice, go for it!!! Disney is great, lots of fun at any age, with roller coasters, log rides, train rides, many other adventurous rides,a wonderful parade, plus a neat light show at night. The Epcot Center, which is more of an educational, hands on kind of place,is interesting and very nice.
I have been there 8 times throughout my life. We always stayed in Kissemee, Florida, about 3 miles from the park. Motels seem to be less expensive and they offer free shuttle service to Disneyland. Some parks charge for parking so you might want to shuttle. Other attractions that are near are Sea World, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens etc, etc. I enjoyed taking my grandkids to Animal Kingdom, because they could interact with some of the animals plus their shows with the animals and birds doing stunts were funny and entertaining for the kids. They also had rides there.
I have also been to Disneyland in California, but Florida's Disney World has them beat by far, in my opinion. Have fun on your VACATION !!!!!!!! Shirley

My advice would be that if you can swing it, you get a hell of a deal staying inside the park. I went last year and stayed in the Port Orleans Riverside. Paid $890 for the dining plan for 5, we ate $1570 worth of food. Wolfgang Pucks and the Lecelier Steakhouse are musts if you go. Good character dining for the kids is the Liberty Tree Tavern or the Akerhaus if you have girls who want to meet the princesses. My whole package with airfare and hopper Plus waterpark passes was only $3400. You can't beat Disney out of a dollar, the best way to save is to take advantage of thier offers. If you have to stay outside the parks, stay away from the parks that offer early or late magic hours. Get the schedule and pick the park that had the special hours the day before. They are alot less busy and you don't really have to wait in line for anything. Another plus is the fast passes. Use them early in the day. Some rides sell out of fast passes quick and you have to stand in horrible lines (Expedition Everest, Rockin Roller Coaster, Test Track, Hollywood tower of terror and space mountain are the worst. Have fun. I've been all over and the most fun I've ever had on vacation was Disney last year.
