So my sister has a house, very beautiful mexican villa style house in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, which is a 5-hour drive (depending on traffic)from the L.A. area. And well I am hoping to go down there with a couple of friends and people to ring in/drink in/and dance in 2010!
Basically I have permission from my sister to use her house for the holiday as long as my guests and I completely respect and keep her house clean, and pitch in to help pay for the utilities, since she has a water tank and so has to periodically pay to refill her tank. So depending on how many people (which at most 12 of us could be pretty comfortable) decide to take advantage of this great opportunity, we would be pitching in for refilling the water tank and the gas so that we can cook some meals if needed, which would really not be much at all. Remember that Mexico has a really good exchange rate for our currencies, may it be dollars or euros, so things like food and booze are extremely cheap. It is very normal to pay about $6 for dinner for 2 including drinks. Tacos are about 80cents a piece and can be found anywhere, as well as those great tasting bacon wrapped hotdogs!
So I plan to travel earlyish on Wednesday, December 30th down to San Felipe and be back late on Sunday, January 3rd. By the way, you do not need a passport to travel there and back. You can also just bring a valid i.d. and a birth certificate, and it really does work since my friend just did that when we went last weekend.
So anyone interested in coming? Anyone have a car that they don't mind driving down, and even offering some rides?
To tell the truth, I would be interested in people that are interested in having a great positive time in Mexico while enjoying the great food and bars that San Felipe has to offer. And since we will be there for the New Year's celebrations, I would want people going to be very interested in going out and having as much fun as possible!

P.S.-Below is some more info about San Felipe:
San Felipe is a very small and nice coastal town in the middle of the desert. It borders some of the Sea of Cortez, so basically is located in the armpit are of Baja, and is about an hour and a half drive from Mexicali, which is just over the mexican border from where Calexico is on the California side. So basically you take the 60East to the 10East, or the 10East all the way to the 86South, which is passing Palm Springs, and then you pass Coachella and then the 8freeway and eventually cross the border at Calexico into Mexicali and then an hour and a half drive through the desert, then you get to nice little San Felipe.
My sister's house is just down the street from the beach and is only an 8-minute drive from downtown San Felipe where you can find divebars/karaoke bars like The BeachComber, Rice n Beans, V-Lounge, and clubs like Bandidos or the awesome Rockodile!
