winger...your bike? Would that be a motorcycle your speaking about? I've know a hand full of people who have done that. my ex took the ferry up as far as they could go and rode back. It was in july and he nearly froze him self to death. Best wishes on that adventure also.

Yes,,,, it would be by motorcycle. Sorry,,,, I get lazy sometimes and just refer to it as "the bike".
Many people have done it by motorcycle as I've read their stories and it just makes me want to experience it even more.
I'm not new to the cold,,,,, I know Alaska is quite different from NE Pa. But I have a good idea of how to be prepared.
I did the "Beartooth Pass" in mid June of 08,,, and the snow was still 12ft high along side the road. I loved every inch of it.

Hi Chip. I happened to notice, okay, was curiously looking for airfare prices to
Alaska. I found R/T from Memphis to Anchorage for $484!!! That`s HUGE!
Of course that`s off season(no crowds), probably colder than a witches u know what
but who cares? $484!!! Alamo would have cheaper cars too depending on when you went.
You may want to look into it. I alllllmost went for it but opted for a cheap-week
in Cancun. May is a great time to travel anywhere, spring breaks over kidz not yet
out of school but you probably know that probably being a teacher, just guessing.
3-4 weeks is terrific for so much beauty. It`s on my to-do list too.
Switzerlands not to shabby either and cost would be about the same.
Just a suggestion if you haven`t already, do the Eurail-pass. In 2001 I went to
11 countries in 2 months, from Norway to Cyprus...solo.
If a then 41 year old broad can do it by herself, anyone can.
Hope you find someone, I`d go in a heartbeat but you need someone... well younger,
there I said it.
Keep traveling my friend, it`s lifes greatest experience.
P.S. that airfare was on Priceline I believe.

I use to live in Alaska it is beautiful. Be sure to Climb the mountains just watch out for moose. Have a great time..
