I never thought I'd hear the name of that book again. I got so pissed while reading it that I threw it across a parking lot just to run over pick it up and keep reading. Though the auther tended to be really REALLY detailed with architecture and put me to sleep sometimes. But no I don't know about the movie. If you find out you should get a hold of me! Thx.

I love this book! I've read it 3 times. It was such a fluid story. Could not put it down. I haven't heard that it was made into a movie. I hope its longer than the normal 2 hours. Otherwise, there is no way they could have done the book any kind of justice.

Pillars of the Earth has not been made into a movie because of it's length.
Instead, they made it into a Mini-Series and it was aired last week, though I don't remember what channel had it.
Unfortunatly I wasn't able to see more the about 15 minutes of it. But what I saw impressed me. I think they did a fairly accurate job.
World Without End also by Ken Follet is set in the same location but a number of years later then Pillars.

I wanted to see the miniseries so badly. I had to read Pillars of the Earth for a class (and then for the same professor, different class, the following semester) and enjoyed the book a lot. I ended up seeking out World Without End, but don't like mystery enough to read any of his other stuff.

Pillars of the Earth played on Starz in July I think. The sequel, World Without End is out; I got it for my daughter. Maybe it'll be run again or be available on another outlet or in video soon.

For the information of anyone that is interested, I just bought the Pillars of the Earth miniseries at Wal-Mart for $40.00.
Since I only saw about 15 minutes of it when it showed on TV, I am looking forward to watching it over my Christmas Vacation.
