My sympathy goes out to you. I lost my husband of 28 years 7 years ago just four months after a cancer diagnosis. He was Vietnam Vet. One of the last things he did was write a story about his Navy experience. He wrote it from the ICU ward. Although I am dating again, I am getting very discouraged and wonder if I will ever be truely happy again. My kids are on their own and the house is quite empty but at least I get to see them from time to time. I really feel for those that have no family at all.

For all of us this is a very hard place to be....
before my husband and I were married I had gone thru a divorce.....when he and I talked about his loosing his first wife and my loosing my husband to divorce i had staed that in some way he was luckier than me....and now that I have lost him....I believe that even more....when he lost his first wife he knew that she loved him, when I lost my 1st husband he no longer loved me, now that I have lost him, I get thru a lot of days knowing when I lost him, I knew he loved me.....and that does help.

At my age, I am not sure that I will ever have another partner, there are things that I never had to think about before....the money thing being the main one, and I hate that...I don't even know if I want another partner at this point....and thinking about loosing someone I loved again, really scares me to death....it is hard!

I lost my sunshine to colon cancer 11 years ago April 2. It took me years to learn that it never hurts less, only less often! Life has been quite tough these years!

Choosey - I think the reason we are here varies from person to person. Heck, I think my answer changes depending on when you ask me. But I know in my heart, I would love to find someone to love and who loves me. Darn, I started to cry when I typed that so I guess maybe I don't really know what I want at this point.
