when i read a book if a chapter is over 15 pages in length it, to me, is too long and should have been rewritten in such a way as to splt into two or mor shortwe chapters.
thats why i love the way james patterson writes or co-written because the chapters in his books seldon are over 8 pages long. hooray for JP

I never really even notice chapter length UNLESS I find the book dull overall. If the book in general is boring me, then I will find myself glancing ahead to see how many more pages it is to either the next section or entire chapter. But if Im lovin' the book and characters, then there is almost a strange left brain phenomena that happens where I lose all sense of time and enter that world in my head so I would not notice the chapter length whatsoever.

Short chapters are great. In the evening when you start getting tired they are a godsend when you say "I just want to finish this chapter"

What seems important is staying current in a chapter.
No two or three day breaks halfway through a 30 pager.
I just read a book that was 6 chapters and a bit over 300 pages.
I think that has to be my limit as I have to admit work and home had me taking more than one break in more than one chapter and that had me going back a few pages every time I had to get myself going again.
As far as keeping chapters short though, sometimes 20-30 pages just fits a writer's style. If you don't like it, you need to look for a different writer.
