All of his that I've read were well crafted without being formulaic. It's too bad he's kind of pigeon holed into SF/fantasy because those aspects of his books take a back seat to the human narrative and plot. He's about the sanest Mormon I've heard about.

I LOVE Orson Scott Card, too. The Ender books--especially Speaker for the Dead-- are amazing. I also enjoyed the Alvin Maker series by O. S. Card.
