I'm reading the first one right now. I'm only on Chapter 5, but so far, so good.

Is she coming out with another? It seems like it's been a long time since the last one.

Yes, in March. I already have mine pre-ordered. *laughs* She had 20 years or so between two of her books (can't remember which two). I think it must take her a lot of time to do all the historical research or something... *makes excuses for Auel*

I do love the series and all the research that goes into the books but Ms. Auel does love to stretch out the interval between her books. I never had the patience to wait for the paperback version so I lugged around those 20 lb books every time I moved. Worth it though. I think Valley of the Horses was my favorite.

mentally lived the whole story of the cave bear clan. hannah was good in the movie, wish they had done more...or did they and i missed them? haven't read them for years, but i see them on my shelf and smile. i finally bought the bound versions and don't know what happened to the paperbacks. i found there were many applicable lessons.

I love the series. It was the first series I read that broke me out of my habit of only reading romance and teen novels. I did a homework assignement on her. She said in a interview that she would rather take forever in coming out with her next book than having missed something critical in the story and/or research.

the oldest is 24 and the bebe is 18.
yes they have all read them but they
did not all like them as much as I did.

Guess I am going to have to go back and reread them.
I must have missed the erotica in them or either
that I read over it.
But then again what doesn't have a lot of the erotica
in it? Sometimes it's best to let them read and then ask
if they have any questions. Or am i bad mom for letting
them read some literature?

Bodice ripping romances set in the stone age, rather than in medieval times.

I like the series, especially the first three. After that, I got tired of reading every minute detail of Ayla's personal hygiene and sex habits. I gave up waiting for Auel to write the 5th installment... I know it (and possibly the 6th is out now): has everyone enjoyed it as much as the others?
