Into Thin Air (the 1996 Everest Disaster) is along those same lines and also good, by same author.
I'm a real Chris McCandless freak. He was not prepared for his final adventure, but I understand why he felt he needed to do it.

ill have to look into that one. i dont know if i would call it unprepared, more of a series of unfortunate events. but unprepared could discribe that as well.

its not along the lines of what you mite be looking for, but world war z by max brooks is an awesome read and i highly recommend it.
