I fell in love with these books about 10 years ago! Anyone else anxiously awaiting the end?

Skip a chapter!!!! Sacrireligious!!!! Robert Jordan is a god!!!
Wheel of Time is awesome!!!
Reading Book 12 for first time at the moment, I'm looking forward to the Last Battle, but at the same time I'm not coz its the end of the series, apart from the Wheel of Time Encyclopedia to come out after!!
Although with the rights for graphic novels, games, and movies being release to Red Eagle Entertainment (I THINK thats the company) there may be more to the Wheel of Time universe after the books are finished I HOPE!!!!!

I have really enjoyed the series to this point. I believe that Jordan chose well when he chose his successor to complete the series. (his name eludes me at the moment)
One of the things that I have found so amazing, is Jordan's ability to create such an elaborate plot line, with the large numbers of well fleshed out characters and keep it alive and entertaining through so many lengthy books.
Most authors would have lost my interest after 3-4 books, at the most.
Jordan was definitly an unusual and very talented writer. I'm sorry that he is lost to us. I will always wonder what else he might have given us if he had lived longer.

I read the first book and have books 2 and 3 waiting for me on a shelf, but I haven't gotten to them yet. I was told by friends that have read it though that the magic system is too linear and the plot is the same thing over and over. Not sure if that is true though.

Jordan added way too much minutiae. its not world building its world overload. it's not right that you can skip an entire chapter and not lose any plot.

I personally love The Wheel Of Time series, and have every single book and can't wait for the end, but he did have what a dear friend call "diarhia" of the word processor. Lol, I personally like complete submerssion into a book, but can see that not everyone finds that apealing. Either way it's all good!

I love the WOT series too, but I do have to admit that Jordan can/could get
sidetracked into the minutiae a bit.
A classic example of this is a scene that read something like this:
(I forgot which character)bust into the generals tent with a look of
terror in his eyes.......and then Jordan spent the next 10 pages describing
every little detail in the tent from the smell of the paper on the generals desk to the
color of his tunic. By the time he got around to why the character "burst" into the tent,
the excitement of the moment was pretty much gone.
Still, love the series and always find myself wanting more.
