Worst Bone in your body to break? |

I'm going with breaking the jaw. Any other broken bone in your body typically does not interfere with eating, conversating and enjoying life while healing.
But a broken jaw?? Ugh!! Forever having a steel plate in jaw with screws to hold your jaw bones together. Two plus months of having your mouth wired shut, no food, can't talk, etc. Then after the wires come off...enamel has worn away due to the metal on your teeth...so tons of dental work to restore your pearly whites! 
Can't imagine anything worse...but what's your opinion?

I'm gonna go with the spine seeing as if it breaks it can kill you or paralyze you for life. Yikes.

well i hit myself in the jaw 1ce while popping it out of place at the same time, and my ear popped and there was a crack from my ear all the way to my chin. i dislocated a nd cracked my jaw, and its still not healed. i can move my jaw sideways and u can hear it crack. the reason i hit it was bc i didnt know what TMJ was. i thought it popped out on its own the reason it was popping under my ears so i hit it to try to get it back . i didnt know TMJ was normal or what it was. this was backin 06 i think. grrr anyways you have the nicest smile i have ever seend. and very pretty by the way. soo if im ever in IN ill be sure to let you know, and we could go see a movie, go grab something to eat, maybe go to the lake. hows that sound

Ribs?... They take forever to heal cuz they're always in motion. Painful w/ every breath... Damn... why are you asking?!

15 years ago I was in a car accident and sustained a fracture of the C1-C2 spinal vertabrae. It was the same injury sustained by Christopher Reeves who was a healthy vital person one minute and the next minute had lost all ability to control or do anything, even to breathe.
I also had a couple of broken ribs and they do damn well hurt when you breathe, i will testify to that.
I was fortunate not to suffer the spinal cord damage that he did and so today I can still walk and talk and breathe and drive and most other things. I cannot turn my head very far, I have lost that mobility and its hard to do things like back out of a parking place but I am ever so grateful not to have "gone there".
I used to think being blind was the worst possible thing. Now I do believe that to be paralyzed would be one of the worst possible outcomes to someone still alive.

Has anyone considered breaking their tail bone? You can't put it in a cast, much less a sling. Usually takes around 4-6 months to heal. If you're really thin, the pain is worse.

def ribs! had a homie whos jaw was broke (by a bullet) and the only hing that bothered him about it was the way he sounded when he talked. my ribs was the worst pain i ever experienced n it lasted 8weeks. nothin u can do about broken ribs except suffer.

I've broken several bones so I kinda know a little about this topic. Breaking vertebrae (spine) is by far the worst thing anyone can break. It effects everything u do for the rest of ur life.

The Spine has to be the worst. The jaw is bad too, but like one poster said, the spine can kill you or paralize you, and so could breaking your neck.

ok yeah that would hurt really bad. at least with a femur, most of the time you'll end up in pin traction, and at least your laying for that.

Collar bone. I'd much prefer a broken jaw or rib.
I'd imagine that a spinal injury would be a close second simply because of the fear that the long-term effects inspire, but I've never had one.

eye socket. You could possibly loose your eye, be permanently disfigured, loss of sight. I've heard stories of people who broke their eye socket and their eye popped out.

For me it was breaking 5 ribs..it took months to heal.. I couldn't stand the weight of the sheet on my chest when I was sleeping..couldn't reach out without hurting..eating was painful, so was talking and just breathing..never want to go through that type of pain again!..

coccyx is a very nasty bone to break. Most people don't even realize they have a tail until they break it but think of the discomfort and no position (stand, sitting, laying) will relieve the pain.

What are you asking exactly when you say "worst"? Most painful? Longest to heal? Most inconvenient?
Tyrant...I am just curious what each person feels is the "worst" bone to break in their body. So some may think what might be the most painful, or maybe they think the worst would be what is the longest to heal, etc. Obviously, these answers will greatly differ as it's a personal perspective. That is the reason to the question.
I couldn't quote everyone...but I've read all your replies and thank you for taking the time to post. While none of us hope to break another bone...it is interesting to see how different we are in our thoughts. Just a different thread to begin the the norm (sex, relationships, etc)
