Few things are as annoying as spending weeks at the gym, follow a healthy, low-calorie diet and then find that you have lost hardly a pound. I am currently taking a drug which contains a steroid. Its causing me to retain water. My hands and feet feel swollen and my face at times looks puffy or swollen.
Most of all have gained about 4 pounds in 2 weeks from water gain. The medication is necessary and there is not a steroid free substitute....any advice on how to NOT retain so much water?!?!

Lots of water, very low sodium intake, no soda, no foods with msg, if all else fails...take a diuretic. Also lots of fruits and veggies, and try chromium picolinate plus a multivitamin. There's also a detox tea that I always drink after a lot of alcohol intake....these are very easy things that will help!!! I had to take prednisone for a bit, so I feel your pain!

you dont need nothing to lose weight but yourself
just run an do your workouts right an watch what you are
eating too

Pee pills are about the only way that I know of. The danger is they can flush nutrients from your system (one I was taking removed potassium)
You may try one of those herbal or natural apothecaries. They may have a supplement you can take that will counter the water retention naturally.

LOL....don't ya love when ppl actually take the time to read the thread.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm definitely going to look into a natural remedy for the time being.

 Drop your sodium to 0 - no salt on anything which should be the rule normally anyway. No soups, no soda, no booze (meaning beer) . In this situation, it is not going to lose your water if you drink lots of it. In a natural state without your drug interacting, yes drinking lots of water will flush and cause your body to actually drop water. However, since your body no matter what you do, will be holding more water than normal, if you want to drop water weight you have to cut e intake. Obviously you can't do that for extended periods however I would hope your meds are not long term either. Potasium is a natural water loser and the chromium picolinate taken at about 1000mcg a day will help as well. Keep in mind, if you decide to have a beer or 4, doesn't matter what else you do that day, you will bloat. Same goes for soda and high sodiums like soup and powdered cheeses etc... Stay away from the powders and the chowders lol. if you splurge you will pay. Be on you best behavior and you will remain water free.

i started a new diet and it is
working fantastically.
I still eat what i want,
and still shaping out to my
ideal shape,
TRUE, I've only started this diet
2.5 weeks BUT I feel and see
results. My energy level is higher
AND
I'm able to bang chicks longer.

Watermelon acts like a diuretic; eat all you want but on an empty stomach. Dandelion tea also helps rid the body of excess water. It's pretty strong-tasting for most though but capsules work equally well -- just make sure you keep up your fluid intake. Hopefully you'll be off the medicine soon, good luck!

Don't drop sodium a lot. You need it. Instead go on very low carbohydrate diet. Carbs in the body hold on to aot of water. I recently dropped 24 lbs. Of extra water in 12 days on low Carbs. Also throw in some asparagus...great diuretic and don't forget to keep flushing the fluids through...that's why I say don't drop sodium because you're gonna lose a lot of it anyways. Probably a good idea to take a mineral supplement as well.
