I use to work wih the company that made the medication, look up the side sffects and see what you find. Its a newer medication so they are still learning things about it. Also call and report is as an AE to the company

I am not a doctor but from what I have seen is that giveing children those mood altering drugs can have devolopemental delays and other side effects that could be avoided by dicipline and parental guidance. Most parents just dont take the time at a early age and teach their children how to act.

Some children act out for attention when the parent dosent give the child much attention. Some children do have a medical problem. IMO the drug therapy should only be a last resort thing instead of a way to avoid responcibility.

I am not judging you but there are several web sites that focus on helpping parents manage dificult children with emotional problems that offer help to parents to guide their children to deminish the issues of a dificult child and slowly educate your child so that they conquer the problems with wisdom and not drugs.

Also some children act out because they are intelegent and boored and need to be challanged.

My son was on that and had some side effect such as very weepy, rash, and decreased appetite. The DR said his sounded like an allergic reaction though.

Check with your doctor. I used to sell biometics. I, along with every sales person I knew, always found it to work for add and adhd kids. 100% of the time. Parents and doctors were often difficult to convince though. They are enamored with the idea that a pain in the a** problem must be solved by medication. Sometimes its true, but for add/adhd biometics always works. I always trek the parents to ask the kids' teacher. Either they behave typically or atypically, either way the teacher will give a detailed antd honest evaluation. No weird/dangerous side effects either.

I can garuntee you if you just take any junk food out of his diet along with the chemically altered food coloring from candies and so forth you won't even need those medications. My son has Autism. As soon as I put him on a very strict organic gluten free and dairy free diet his signs of the adhd thos so commomly goes along with the autism disappeared. But you have to give the diet 6 months for all the chemical crap to filter out of the body.
In 2010. I gave my son 2 peices of candy (Mike'n Ikes) that said were gluten free and he had a complete meltdown within 45 minutes of eating it. It was the food coloring that caused the issue. Because the food coloring they put in the candy is a chemical dye and not from an organic vegetable base. Doing the diet is way better and has no side affects like the drugs you are putting your child on.

I have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I tried that for over a year and a half with my oldest son. Who has add/adhd and odd. Non of which helped his behavior was wacky his mood swings got worse and he started to fall way behind in school. So i reverted to medication and we have gone through plenty of medications to finally find the correct one which helps him at least get through school. behaviors at home are still a little off but eh i know its not going to be 100% good at both places. But i still have him on a strict food diet in the sense of no sugars and dyes and food coloring and all. I know they say that food color # 4 and 5 are the worst for kids with that. But i have also tried other things that haven't helped but have for others. I mean sometimes that works with certain kids and not with others.
To the women who posted this original post. I had my son on that medication but the generic type and it didn't work he had no side effects just nothing changed and he almost got worse on it. Good luck but i would speak with your dr about the whole vision thing cause that cant be good at all. Good luck
