Thanks for the encouragement! I loved all the places I visited, and didn't get to spend enough time at Castles as I had wished. I stayed with a friend I had met on line, and must say, I don't drink/go to bars, and think England is alot safer than Our country.

Delphie
How wonderful of You to reply
I really Really loved/Love England. The idea of going back there every few months is, to Me, a dream come true. Alot of American people talk about the English food, as being some-thing of disgust, but I can truthfully say that I Love the food also. LOL The mushy peas and the"chips" are delicious! I must admit though, at a restaurant I went to, I think the chips were baked, as there was hardly any oil on them. I like the southeast area better, just because of the North Sea, a few blocks away from where I was staying. Heavenly! I stayed with a friend I had met on line, so all I paid for was gas and food. The People are fantastic and quite polite, as I had expected that, from My friend. I will always treasure the time I spend there and hope in a few years I will have a home there, by the sea.

Hi Catwoman! So you have been there and loved it as well!!! Don't we miss it? I wish I could be there this minute! There I had lots of friends. I found that in the UK (as in other countries in Europe) the home is just part of the living experience. We normally extend our living within the community area which is so different here in the states. People here are normally attached to the tv and the insides of their homes... there people are normally out and about no matter what time of the year it is!!! They always find time to take a walk around the neighborhood, visit with friends nearby, go to the pub (it is not always to have alchoholic drinks) to socialize and do other things that make life so amusing like take a blanket to lay it down by a nice tree in the park to read a book or just enjoy those who are around and about.

As far as the food, I had no problem with it... except a little with the huge breakfast!!! I couldn't handle breakfast consisting of 2 eggs, bacon, huge sausage, beans, mushrooms, fried tomato, toast and even hash browns!!! That was something else for sure. That was just too big of a breakfast for me but did enjoy it at times for "while in England do as the British do" thing. I looked forward to the Sunday's pot roast... for they were always so formal and had so many items served on a single dish! I couldn't believe they would cooked so many veggies and complements for a meal. I looked forward to eating my yorkshire pudding the most though.

Did you have any issues about how we call "petrol" gas? I did! Many jokes were made as I kept forgetting to use the right name for the much needed fuel to get me to go the different places I was always willing to visit.

I have many pictures of the places I went. Did you? Some of my pictures I lost there but at least the most important ones are in my heart and my soul. I was giving the chance of a lifetime then... to go visit Europe once more!

I was invited to go back this March but I declined as the person that had been my angel during this whole time and I had distanced ourselves. Even though I was and still am willing to go anywhere in the world to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life, this relationship was not going to work. He was very understanding and that is why he spent all of the money for me to come and visit and get to know the place and all... but when it came down to it... I knew it would be too difficult for us to be together. There were too many restrictions set out by the government of both of our countries. It would have made it hard for me to live there without being married to him. That was not a negotiation item at the time. So there... both of us lost! But as the saying goes... "Que sera... Sera..."

So what are your plans to live there sometime in the future? Have you done the necessary research about making a move like that?

Hello again Delphie!
I had a fiance' from the southern part, had plans on moving there, didn't quite work out the way I had planned it lol It's really too expensive to live there, as I would really have to work full time, being the age I am..No WAY! LOL I'd have to buy My home from the bank and fix My monthly payments the way I want to and it just seems like a lot of work to Me. I guess I'll just keep making My 2-3 trips a year. I just keep hoping the gas prices will go down, as the air fare was the only good thing about traveling there. LOL

Intelligent Ladies and Gentlemen are always welcome to the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

However, as the exchange rate is crippling for you, its easier for us to come to you ...

Im a Brit, and I currently live in Egypt, but London is an amazing place, and I love it for its dangerous nakedness.
Anything you want? It can be got.
Sights and sounds are overwhelming, even to us Brits, unless you have lived there. Its a very special place.

I dont want to live there, mind you, as it is exhorbitantly expensive ... lol

WOW..DO I LOVE ENGLAND and all of GB.....My late husband was from London. I moved there in 1972, but the prices of homes forced me back. He came here to live and always loved the USA. He would tell me that he was British by birth, American by choice.
I have several relatives over there myself, which is how I met David. He passed away last year and I still miss him. But I stay in touch with his daughter and visit often. It is my dream to find another wonderful British gentleman and live six months there and six months here. It is only a dream that will probally never come true, but in the meantime, my step daughter keeps looking ; as she wants me there too.
So I hope she keeps looking.............even in the pubs.....anywhere, as long as I can fulfill my dream......

My daughter lives there now. Her husband is military and they are stationed in England. They are on a 4-year tour and have 9 months left. I have been over there twice to visit them. It was just a visit for me, but enjoyed it......saw and did a lot of fun things. But I'm looking forward to my daughter coming back to America.
