About Me |
Building your home and family is one of the most complex and meaningful pieces of art in our lives. I find functional art to have a more direct relationship with life and it's enjoyment.
I have know all my life i was going to work with my hands for a living. At 14 i started to work on a old trashed out 67 TVR race car of my fathers. I worked at gas stations and apprenticed as a carpenter to fund my addiction to the beauty of old sports cars.
Throughout high school i had dreams of working on F1 cars and prototype touring cars. My senior year i had the choice of taking a full time mechanics position through a internship working on heavy duty machinery. I questioned the action of giving up my last years "freedom" in high school to have my hands covered with grease. I also questioned the realties of my love for the natural world and the impact internal combustion engines play in it.
I enrolled in a ceramics 1 class and Art history as a senior in high school and for the last eight years i have been using my hands to make pots, sculpture, build houses, fix cars, cook food, work in the gardens, and make love.
To further that questioning of my career of race car engineering, what difference would i have been making, and would i have been happy with that type of life style.?
I do not know if being a ceramic artist and potter makes the world a better place, but i feel the way i live my life does. Making family most important and as well as doing my part to create a more sustainable future (building green homes, growing food, making and using hand made objects and teaching, about the worth of working with our hands, the earth and building community through agriculture-al and energy dependency
So i find my self moving from Asheville, North Carolina (born, raised, and collage educated) to Santa Fe, New Mexico to take care or my mouther who has been suffering from MS for the last 12 years and wheelchair bound for the last 8. She currently needs full time nursing assistance. The federal government pays for 60 hours of care-taking, i work
40 of those hours as well as at least 20 none paid. I feel very blessed to be paid by the government to be with my mom and have a blast taking car rides, taking about life as well having my apartment and potter studio on the same property as her.
I am looking for someone who knows who they are (if that is really possible to know your self ?), knows what they want from a partner and is looking for the one. Every thing i know about you is amazing and beautiful. You seem like a kind, compassionate, loving soul that understands the importance of working with ones hands in life, love, family, and hope for a better world.
I would love to have the opportunity to get to know you as a friend and and see what happens.
Peace, love, and happy days
Sean
