| About Me |
Most people would describe me as an introvert because I do cherish my time alone. However, I can also be outgoing and love hanging out with my extroverted friends. It makes for a good balance in my life. Other words that have been used to describe me are: intelligent, kind, compassionate, empathic, gentle and open-minded. Being open-minded makes it easy for me to see both sides of the story and that occasionally makes decision-making difficult for me. But when it comes to moral and ethical situations I have no difficulty in deciding where I stand. I have high morals and ethics so if you’re engaged in anything illegal, including drugs, then I am not interested.
I do not smoke and I ask the same of my partner. As my profile above says, I do drink occasionally, usually with friends or at social events. I am a little leery when it comes to someone who drinks heavily all day every day. But I am always up for a good time with friends.
I am very curious and I love to learn new things every opportunity I get. Therefore I am very open to new people and places. And I’m willing to try almost anything at least once- from hiking to whitewater rafting, or a symphony or play. I am very ambitious and I’m looking for someone to support me in my endeavors, especially in my advocacy and volunteer work for people with mental illnesses. I serve on the Board of Directors for a non-profit helping people in mental health recovery and I’m very proud of the difference we’ve made in people’s lives. I’ve found my life’s work and I want to go to graduate school to get a Masters in Social Work to further help those suffering from mental illness. I’m always interested in and supportive of the work my partner does and I hope my partner will be the same.
Although I haven't had much opportunity to do it in my life, I love to travel. I am working on getting a passport as I speak because I want to go visit my dad who is retired down on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. In the pictures they've sent it looks beautiful and my dad says the fishing there is the best! I'm also learning to speak Spanish because I love learning foreign languages. I minored in French when I was in college. My major was in biology because I had intentions of going to medical school or studying genetics in graduate school. So I'd love to meet anyone who has an interest in traveling.
