I'm a pediatrician in a large practice just outside Detroit. More later.
Moving into a new condo has made it closer to work. Two hour drives get old, as do ten hour days, but working with kids is great and the time really flies. I've been with this group about four years, mostly in "well baby" care. The nurses here are great, especially at giving shots. They really make the place run.
Twice a year I take two week "vacations" with a group like Doctors Without Borders. If I were rich, rich, rich, I'd do this full time. It's great to see how much can be done with so little. We stick strictly with medicine, no religion, no politics. On one trip, the federalies "suggested" we should cut our trip short. It seemed that a local doctor felt our contribution was not in line with Hugo Chavaze's national policy.
