About Me |
I am 32 years old, reasonably educated, a fulltime dad to my daughter (who is 6), and pretty much just work endlessly these days.
Outside of work and single parenthood, I enjoy pretty standard stuff: food (obviously); quiet walks; playing music (8 years of trombone in school, and guitar/bass since age 15); being a better dad than my own (not that he did a bad job, but more in the sense of being a a more positive example for my daughter); introspection; reading (I just forced myself through Fifty Shades of Grey to see what all the fuss is about. Ask me what I think.) and general philosophical enlightenment.
I'm soft-spoken most of the time, and I'm not the smoothest at small talk, but if I can find some common ground with you I open up pretty readily.
Dating-wise...I'd like to meet someone who has an intellectual side (bonus points for staying up on the news and current events), has a healthy nerdy streak and is proud of it, has a sense of humor (and not afraid of a little smartassery, hopefully); who is reasonably stable in life and open to exclusivity should the situation present itself.
If you're into the teddy-bear type, that's me. I'm a sucker for a good hug. I'm not terribly picky about age, either; if we get along and enjoy each other's company, let's go with it and see what happens.
Soooo...likes. Music: rock, occasionally I like to get a laugh out of trying to sing to rap music. My Pandora throws out everything from Metallica to Barenaked Ladies, Devo to Pixies, Pantera to Rush.
Movies: Lots. Just ask. I gravitate toward comedy and more cerebral stuff; not a huge fan of CGI-fests or romantic comedies, though I can handle the latter much more easily curled up on the couch with...well, someone.
My sense of humor is ironic, slapstick, witty, finely honed, and sometimes dark; and I don't believe in laughing at my own jokes. This sometimes leads people to believe I have NO sense of humor and am way too serious to try to talk to, or to severe awkwardness while they decide whether or not they should laugh. Hint: Just laugh anyway. I do.
Sometimes.
Unless I'm joking.
