If I'm not studying or hanging out with friends then I'm usually on the run during the weekends. My latest adventure led me to Deerfield for a surfing class that was being offered at a local surf shop. I honestly think my board was possessed by a crazed, nostril flaring bull hellbent on chaos because for the 1st half hour not a single person could stay atop of it for more than a second without being mercilessly thrown into the ocean.
Yet, as embarrassing as it is to admit, the sense of accomplishment that surged through my veins after finally being able to stand atop of the board without falling on my ass was comparable to learning how to ride a bike without training wheels as a kid. I've only tried it once and I already feel as though now I'm ready to tackle the legendary waves of Maui!! (Okay, perhaps that is a slight exaggeration but I'll get to that point eventually).
On Saturday I'm heading to Nicaragua with a few friends to attempt volcano surfing, rappelling and of course, visiting the Amazon Rainforest. Afterwards, we're going kayaking to an island deep in the heart of Lake Managua that claims to have the most crystal clear of waterfalls hidden away within a small grotto. Simply stunning. It comes highly recommended and isn't known to tourists so I'm quite excited. (smiley face)
