aloha brother, i use to live on the island of Maui for 21 yrs, been back in the state of NY for almost 13 yrs in Nov, I sure miss it there, but bro how you going to pay your rent i see they have come down little since last year because I read the mauinews.com to keep on checking what going on in the island that I love.
I forgot what island you are moving to. but I think, Maui is NO KA OE you know. Yeap last week I talked with one of my friends there for about an hour on the phone, just thinking my voice was right on Maui, one block from the beach.
I would go back but you know it is too expensive, and my friend told me LOTS of foreclosures and people are losing their jobs, Makena Prince Hotel where my friend works told me the occupancy rate is only 51 percent, that not so good. My friend told me that CHINA is buying up lots of property on Maui, before it use to be the Japanese, but China wants to buy as much as possible. Food prices were high back in 1999 and it is even more worse now. Lots of homeless too, they came with the trucks up to Lahaina and bulldozed down their tents but I read online that they build a shelter but not enough space so the homeless, I dont know where they going to go, I remember back in 1999 that a bunch of homeless were living in these bushes but they littered the whole area they were living in their cars and eventually they were told to move out.
If you think food prices are high here in the state, You should see what they are on MAUI, they are astronimical, here they are gone UP but they still have not caught up to the prices on Maui back in 1999. most of the friends that i made on Maui, left long time ago, they could not handle it in the early 1980's lots are moving off the island I heard. Even my friend is moving off and saying Aloha nui loa Maui da kine
