The term "glory hole" is derived from mining in the 1800's. Typically they are located in ancient streambeds, that have dried up and been covered with overburden...the over burden is extracted and eventually you end up locating the "pocket" or placer deposit of significant amount of gold. Dried up waterfalls running off of gold veins, then the river shifts and they get covered up over time...but modern technology and the ability to dredge has allowed for prospectors to discover many placer glory holes in existing rivers and streams as well...
If I had found one, I wouldn't be here typing this more than likely.

I know of teo glory holes.
One in Texas which got shut down cause the girls were underage illegals. Glad I ne er made that trip.
And one at an adult store a few minutes from where I live. The place is nasty though, I wouldn't even want to piss in their parking lot.
