I text boyfriends frequently to let them know I am thinking about them or whatever. It can also be a fun form of foreplay (if done right). I don't necessarily want to text them constantly, though... some time and space away is kind of nice.
How is someone supposed to miss you if you are always accessible to them?

Hmm, there can be a limit to such things, but I don't mind it too much. Considering I got a lone wolf persona the change up of socializing is nice. So I'm not against a lot of it so long as its interesting and not the "Soo....whatcha doing? Sounds fun....hmm hmm..." Develop a talking point or don't bug me is my motto lol.

When you call/text:
-just to ask him how his day is going at breakfast, lunch and dinner...too much.
-when you ask him what he is doing every hour on the hour....too much.
-when you are forcing him to answer back, after you text him five times in that day and he never responded back and then you get mad...too much.

When he calls and says, "What are you doing?" and the only response I have is, "Heading to the bathroom" because we already talked 10 times and its not 1 pm yet.
It actually happened...
It was a very draining experience and I can usually talk up a storm
If it's a man I enjoy communicating with, daily or just about daily is fine....can be quick, phone chat, text or e-mail.
But...not hourly  ....less is more sometimes.
My life isn't in a constant state of change and after the initial getting to know phase it's more about things unrolling naturally.

My rule of thumb... I do not text often, maybe once a day. If I do not get a reply I will not text the next day. If I get a reply I will hold convo until he ends convo. If he doesnt text or call next day if there isnt a good excuse, then he's probably not intersted so time to move on.

Nice...I have had 12 hr convos thru text with men.....
Some text a lot and some don't....I am very rarely the one who texts first..but if they are friends and there is something funny as hell...then I will fire one off. For me it is my major form of communication and they all know that.....I will talk face to face..or text. Talking on the phone drives me nuts

Once a day is fine.
If we see each other, or have plans to see each other, then there is no need to text or call.
For example, if you live with your guy, there's no need to text him a dozen times while he is at work to see how his day is going - you can ask him when he gets home.

That sucked not knowing who was calling! Having to talk to people you didn't want to talk to. I'm not a big one for talking on the phone. I do enjoy texting but it all depends on who and the situation. Sometimes I'm too busy to text.

Yeah, nicole, those were the good ole days, when the person YOU DID want to talk to called, the beginning of the conversation would be recorded on your answering machine because you were screening your calls.
I remember back then whenever I called my aunt I had to say "Are you there? It's Jay, pickup" because she always screened her calls with an answering maching.

I will say, however, it is nice having a cell phone to weed out the Stage 5 Clingers from the true down to earth independent women.
The first time there's the hint of "why didn't you text me back" or four texts from her before I respond to the first one,
Boom
She's history and it is onto the next.
If she needs that much attention while dating, can you imagine how horrible it would be being in a relationship with her needy self?

If its a long distance thing, then I'd say more frequent calls/texts are important to keep it going. How much is too much? Guess that depends in you and the other person. If one of you says whoa-then you , or they, stop. Period. If they stop responding, they're not into you. Period. The way I see it, if you even have to ASK that question-are they into you?, you've already got your answer. Because if they ARE, they will WANT to talk to you. If they are on the fence, just give em a nice little shove. The other way.

Yes the answering machine thing was great. That's how we screened calls and then the greeting never stopped even after we picked up so the convo got recorded. But I'm thinking even further back to NO answering machine and having to actually be home to get a phone call. And this is totally off topic but I miss recording songs off the radio and having the DJ talking at the end of the song.
