Anyone on the site own one of these or know someone that does?
I bought one in about 1996-1998 and it has sat in my garage for nearly eight years. I finaly dug it out put some new plugs in it, drained the old gas and started it up. It ran pretty good the first day or so I drove it, now it misses and has a nasty burned metalic smell. I think I blew something up in the engine.
I only had about 60 hours on the thing when I took it up to be serviced the last time. The jerk that serviced it put 30 hours on it because he wanted to "test out the winch plate and winch I installed on it." I turned him in to the mfgr but it did not do any good. They are begging for dealers so this guy got away with it.
I put another 10 hours on it, then as stated, it sat in my garage for about 8 years. Now its acting up...Whatever it is, I am afraid its going to be expensive to get it fixed.
Next thing. They advertise that these things can carry four full sized adults. Not true if one or two of those adults is at least six feet tall. I had to sit in the front seat and straddle the sicks just so I could drive it and even then I was sore, sore, sore after a half day in the thing.
I moved the front seat back by about 4", which was too much. Two inces would have done the trick. I intend to move the front seat back up by 2" but I will still need to move the back seat back to give the one or two people in back some knee room. The problem with that is the engine cover sits right up against the back seat. I'd have to cut a section out of the engine cover, then rig that back up so that it can still function as an engine cover...
Then...I'd have to bend and re-mold the rear section of the floor board so that it would cover the drive chains and that portion of the engine. I dont like all that "rigging" and "re-molding" BS. It might be sort of functional, but it wont look very good and may not function all that good either.
Any ideas? I have heard that someone sells a new shorter engine cover so that I wont have to do any of this. Anyone know of anyone?
Thanks.
