Do you enjoy someone who engages in intellectual conversation? I was told today that I am too serious and shouldn't talk about intellectual things when starting to date.
What am I missing? I find intellectual conversation very stimulating and cannot find someone attractive who cannot hold his own.
Do I just don't know how to date? Maybe I don't want to if that is the case. It is who I am.

That was what I was thinking. I joke and cut up with people. But when I get to know someone, I ask intellectual questions to see if they are a match. I LOVE talking about those things and hearing points of views...it is a huge turn on for me...more than any body type.
I do think some men get intimidated by it. But most people who have hung out with me, know I can be fun too.

I have a friend that married a guy based on chemistry and physical attraction, they married really quick. Now she realizes he can't talk about much of anything, and it is frustrating for her.
I have been divorced for over six years, and got so tired of the online dating, that two years ago I stopped. I just didn't date.

I used to be able to do that. Then I realized, I didnt need a whole ruler to measure most things. So, I forgot how.

Dont take this the wrong way Daizy but maybe examine how you ask those intellectual questions during a date. Are you asking them for conversation sake or is the way you are asking them coming off as 'i'm smarter than you' questions? They may be perceiving it that way even if its not the intention. Just something to rule out.

Oh these aren't during the date, I ask before the date...figure I can weed them out. I also never try to appear smarter than anyone. I actually try to talk at whatever level the person is at...it is how I live my life.
I think some men, the wrong men may be intimidated.

Don't believe the shameless hussy, she quit dating the tow truck drivers that always came to pick up the latest bus she broke.
Bobbi Ann would tell them that she was a teaparty member and they got up set when she really wasn't in to teabagging.

I have a 25 year old male roommate who has been with me for going on 3 years. He's been in college the entire time and also moving up the ladder with Home Depot. We have a lot of good conversations whether it be on advise, his trying to gain insight on the wisdom (he thinks) I have... and today, he was shocked when I explained to him the amount I will pay for my house with interest. He's current on politics but is still old fashioned in many ways being raised with his dad a doctor and his mom a stay at home mom and with my folks being middle working class, me being a daycare child, it provides lots of good conversation.
Just an example of how lives differ and while it may not seem intellectual to start, discussions of such get very deep and very interesting. I love it.

I agree with Bobbi Ann. If your date can't handle the intellectual conversation, they are not a match for you.
