Music is music no matter what avenue it came out of. There's something to appreciate in all of it and to be so closed minded is disturbing from an artist's standpoint.

I am an artist too. And i do appreciate music that is well performed and requires talent.

Hair metal isn't talent. It was manufactured to be a money maker..thats why it all sounds the same. The sound that sold records at the time.

That isn't talent. It's a marketing scheme.

As an artist you should recognize the difference. The fact that you don't isv what i find disturbing.

Haha most main stream music IS marketing. A slim few making it by on talent alone. Either way, I enjoy the music whether marketing was behind it or not. They're are still people plucking strings and hittin drums.... Sounds like music to me

Yes! It's too bad that when the 90's started with grunge, that killed the hair music! But it has made a very strong comeback and the music sounds better than ever! Older bands still out there touring and have a great following! Check out the M3 Rock Festival concerts for example! Being a rock fan for most of my life I have always loved the music starting from Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Hair Metal! You gotta say if it's too loud, then your too old! Not this guy and I'm pushing 55! And yes, I can't drive 55! But to each of their own opinions, different strokes for different folks! Rock On!!! And don't forget the horns!!! My favorites are Winger,Stryper,Great White,Cinderella,Kix,Ratt,WhitesnakeSteel Panther,Twisted Sister, WASP, Firehouse, too name a few!

At the time they were pretty cool and some of them who are still around make pretty good albums still. Like la guns, dokken, tom kiefer of cinderella and an industrialized faster p*ssycat. Whitesnake too for just some examples.

80's hair metal, yeap....might have been some "cliche' rock" back then, but a catchy tune is a catchy tune, none the less.

If you take the appearance OUT of the equation, the so-called hair band musicians were far and above better musicians than the tuckfards that passed for music in the Grunge scene during the 90's where every moronic band had to have the token bald guy playing an instrument jumping around like a nitwit on stage.

Were the 80's metal bands better musicians? By far! They could actually play their instruments and compose music. The problem is all of them wanted to live the rock star lifestyle (thank you MTV) so they focused more on appearance and making news instead of making music that really mattered. Unfortunately, half of that was also the fault of the record corporations who made the bands do what they demanded which was put a sappy power ballad on every record.

It's your life- deny yourself of what is truly great.

I think it's funny how simple-minded and one dimensional some people are at any age. Especially the ones that think music began with them.

I can walk in guitar center and yank a guitar off the wall, plug in, and rip out a classic from 30 or 40 years ago, and it's not one minute before some young lad sweeping and shredding away on some metal, don't stop and say, "Hey Grandad, you want to show me some of that shit your playing over there!"

So do without- limit yourself to your generation of music freak. I couldn't give one squirt of runny shit if you do!
