I'm just curious to see if there were any other Deists on this site. It would be a little refreshing to see another Deist so I could have a stimulating and meaningful conversation about the meaning of life etc., etc..

That's the meaning to the physical process of life, what I really like talking about is more personal to each individual.

saying what it's also known as doesn't help. but i don't think free thought aligns itself with any belief in a deity. perhaps you'd like to explain the beliefs, philosophy, whatever of deism for those of us who don't know.

Deism the belief in one God. The belief that that God created the universe. Some Deists believe that God Plays a role in judgment but others don't. All Deists deny prophecy and all the dogma of the revealed religions.

Deists also believe that a belief in God can be reached through rational thought, experience and reason instead of just being told so.

Well I believe in God. Does that make me a Deist?

What about The Urantia Book? Have you read it? It's a new revelation from God's government to our world, which is called "Urantia" in the book. You can get one from Amazon.com for about $15. It's a 2000 page book. Check it out. This is the one:

I'm a Pandeist.

Pandeism is a belief system that can be seen as a combination of deism, where the creator of the universe takes no part in its operation, and pantheism, where God and the universe are one and the same. Pandeism suggests that God (the universe's creator, not necessarily a currently worshiped deity) made the universe by becoming the universe.
Pandeists contend that this answers some objections to both deism and pantheism, namely that deism doesn't explain why God would create, then abandon the universe, and pantheism does not explain where the universe/god originates. Like some pantheists, pandeists see nature and God as synonymous, and that scientific inquiry will reveal the mechanisms by which the universe/god operates.

I'm glad there's a whole thread dedicated to Deism. I just recently figured out that I was a Deist. People look at me weird when I say I'm a Deist and not a Christian. Many people have never heard of it, but yet Thomas Jefferson and some other highly respected people were Deists.
