I like everything from distorted monster guitarists to clean melodic country... But no matter the genre ya must consider tone in a guitar player
That cancels out a bunch ... The list usually winds up with some blues guy
I know I'm gonna get shot at for this .. Warren Hayne... Joe Bonamassa ...John Mayer...are just eat up with reddiculous tone ... N not cause of their amps or guitars .. It's from spending time working on technique n not just speed ... Well shoot away
Been playing many years .. N that's my thoughts .. But too many good ones to list

Right now lianne la havas... Anyone that likes Corinne Bailey rae I highly recommend you listen to her. Her album is your love big enough had me hooked from the first time I listen to it back in November lol still listening to it now I hope she comes back to the us soon really wanna see her perform live.

I'll have to pick TWO because both are equally talented:
Danny Gatton who was the best guitar player who walked this earth. His own mother took him at the age of 8 to take lessons from country music legend Roy Clark and after an hour, Roy told Danny's mom, "There's nothing I can teach your son." How's THAT for talent at the age of 8! Danny played it all and was Nashville's best kept secret. He played for tons of people and literally walked on water where guitar was concerned.
Steve Vai is my all time favorite rock musician because he can move through so many genres of music with such smooth affluence and skill. He plays classical, jazz, rock, country, blues, metal, R&B, you name it, he plays it. When he was a kid playing for Frank Zappa, people would bring obscure sheet music for Steve to play on stage, on the spot in front of the crowd.
I would like to have met and listened to Niccolo Paganini because I read a biography about him and his amazing talent of playing so amazingly well and fast that the early church fathers whispered that he consorted with the Devil since no human could possibly play that fast and play that accurately. His 24 Caprices are a masterpiece to listen to regardless of what genres of music you like.
