Are you looking to move to Alaska just for a change of scenery? It is a good place to find a job, but I wouldn't recommend moving without a job lined up or at least some real plan. And as far as it being a nice place to live, it can be. I spend a little time around Anchorage and I think that would be a cool place to live. I spend a lot of time around Fairbanks, which is OK, but it's just a mid sized town with nothing but pine trees for hundreds of miles. It can get a bit boring. And from there the list of places gets really remote, real fast. It's definitely worth visiting, but I think a lot of people wouldn't be happy permanently living there. Unless you like hunting, fishing, wandering around the woods, and solitude, it may not be the best place for you.

I came from the heart of phoenix, Big, hot, rude, and scary... to Anchorage Alaska about 5 years ago. I think it was the right move for me. It's beautiful, and people up here are kinder. you wont be standing on the side of the highway for too long if your car breaks down. (unless you look scary) and as long as you know our laws, you wont run into any problems. I can go in my back yard, put up a tent, and Bam! instant camping site! Everything is a little more expensive here, and the further out into the villages and isolation, the higher the prices... but, if you have a job, it all evens out.
Ghetto up here, ha! I have yet to see it, although people say there are gangs uphere, I have yet to see it, I haven't seen or heard about drive bys, and graffiti is not all that bad, I have in the past 5 years only seen 2 spots with it. We have movie theaters, bowling alleys, skating rinks both ice and wood... we have gyms, and a water park, there are places to take kids like bouncing bears, or the museums and zoos, there is alot up here to entertain, and the views are great.

I suggest you come up here for a vacation and check it out, like prior people have said, if you move up here, have a job lined up or a family member up here to help you get on your feet... other wise we have some really nice homeless shelters too. lol.

have any more questions you can feel free to message me.

Just moved from Seattle. summers are perfect up here. winters are barable if you stay busy, eat well, and if you have someone ta keep you warm. People in the city are way too amped, opinionated, and fake. in the city people get offended too easily and when they do they are to afraid to confront the situation and come to conclusion. Alaska is the last place in the US where you can truly be free.

I lived in Southeast Alaska for many years.
Alaska is a beautiful place to live, and even study.

Moving there?

Depends on why you're moving there...
If you're moving to Alaska because of one of the
dumbass tv shows, IRT or Deadliest Catch,
it won't be a good move for you.

Other than that, life in Alaska is pretty much what you
make of it.

That you have a college education will work in your favour.
