sensuousz Titz Germany 27, joined Oct. 2011	What do you feed your pets? Do you believe in pet food ratings? Etc Any specialty foods, raw food or just table scraps? I am curious to hear opinions. I am a new dog owner and had to do a lot of research and I know I have a lot to learn. I will begin.... I feed my puppy Canidae pureSEA all life stages food. So far I am very content with it. Have seen a huge improvement on his coat, eyes and his "waste". I am almost done with the first bag. It's a 5 star food and grain free. My puppy can not tolerate chicken and when he was on Pedigree(I can't believe I ever let that food near him) he had a lot of itches. autumnsmile Counce, TN 53, joined May. 2009	Almost all of your grain free kibbles are pretty good.I feed kibbles and meat scraps.I have a couple of hunt clubs that donate the scraps from their kills {guts,skins,bones hooves etc}which I freeze,boil and give all {I pressure cook all bones}.Wolves can't digest grains and its good for the dogs as well.I also give cooked eggs.One of my little dogs,Gilliagan,loves his eggies so much he has his very own banty hen.

stuartfaeperth Cheshire United Kingdom 44, joined Jun. 2013	I feed my Mastiff cheap biscuits everyday, with pork/beef/lamb hearts/liver/kidneys mixed in every coupla days. Costs me bout £20 every coupla months. When I got her, I was embarrassed to take her out, due to the abuse she'd suffered, and the appalling view of her ribs. 3 months later, perfection. Every dog is different. But expensive is not necessarily better. I know Boerboel breeders who feed carcasses and unwashed tripe, and jesus, you should see the muscle on some of these beasts.

stuartfaeperth Cheshire United Kingdom 44, joined Jun. 2013	What's this 4 star/5 star rating? The biscuits I feed my Lucy are possibly the cheapest on the market, and yet people assume it costs me a fortune to feed her due to her size/condition.

Most of the cheap treats and food have too much salt and may cause problems later. I have two allergy dogs so what they are fed is mostly cooked human food, not dog food. My male does get a small amount of bison based kibble. Both dogs have meat allergies and they are different. What both can eat is turkey. They get turkey and cottage cheese in the morning. The girl gets a rice cake and the boy gets kibble with this. At night they are fed brown rice, carrots, green beans. This is mixed with turkey burger for the girl. Both were on that until the boy went through six months of chemo and he needed more fat in his diet so he now gets hamburger or beef of some kind. My girl also likes tuna or salmon occasionally. A lot of dogs are allergic to soy, wheat, chicken, and dairy. If your dog has a bad coat or is itchy, a diet change will probably take care of that. stuartfaeperth Cheshire United Kingdom 44, joined Jun. 2013	Wow, so many problems. I must just be lucky. I use Wagg dry biscuits, purely because I have for years and years, and every dog I've fed it too has reacted favourably to it. I'm getting off my a** now an gonna read the bag.

Chicken and LAMB allergies?Wow!I know it's possible,though.Lamb is a fav feed I give my furbabies.Mine eat meat,a lot of deer and some others,donated by hunters I know and frozen until use.Kibbles...rt now,with me feeding and caring for close to 100 animals,out of my own pocket,Im doing the best I can to buy the cheapest possible.The kittens are on kitten chow,the puppy on pupppy chow,the cats get 9 lives and the dogs get a knock off kibble.There arn't much table scraps here...indeed the humans sometimes run short on people food,but we scrape by.Nobody has gone hungry yet.But Im getting a lot of inboxed messages asking where Ive been.These guys are ALOT of work.The litter box in the maternity ward is a barrel I sawzalled in half and it has to be scooped 2ce daily.That's just one enclosure.Im trying to seperate the girls from the boys and have built 2 very large cat enclosures,and just about finished with the new steel kennels.Ive been begging for help,but can't even get one cat spayed or adopted.I didn't realize how large this colony was when I bought this place.I can't seem to get these two beagles adopted,either.I think Im most desperate for spays and neuters.Personally,I only want to foster a couple of animals at a time.I look forward to when I can get back down to that.I don't have the resources or physical abilities I used to have.

I have always fed my dog dry dog food.But I Googled Double Life Dog Diet,and watched that rather low budget video telling of the dangers of most of the big dog food companies,putting stuff in the food that over time will/may give a dog cancers.Rather than go into all the video says...other than make your own dog food,I want others to tell me what they think of whats being said.Yes,this site sells a video on how to cook-up a dog food that can make your pet dogs live far longer. Double Life Dog Diet should be the first one in the list. Wishing good health and a long life to all pets. Have a good day everyone.

Yes,I agree with you that that site is all about the money as well.One can get good ideas on how to make your own dog food with the free one the site gives you...and what you just said on you and your vet talking about home made food for your dogs,and itt sounds quite good.Rice is quite easy for dogs to digest,and the other foods you mentioned,all are good. Omgoodness,I forgot the other poster's screen name that I wanted to reply to.He's the guy that's been lucky with the cheap bisquits.I fully understand the burden of a small wallet,but I will say that my poodle ,Tinker,was on science diet for all but his 1st year of life and he gave me all but a few days of 21 years of quality life,almost never had any ailments.Nutrition really does make a HUGE difference.And veggies are great snacks/treats for canids.My timberwolf would do anything to earn blueberries but he likes apple chunks,bananna slices and other fruits n veggies too.Another thing is you can bake your own bisquits.It's not hard.I like to add food grade diatomacious earth to them and salmon.Everyone on the property loves their"mud pies".Dogs,cats,wolves,fox,coon,opossums,bob cat,you name it.

Greetings & thanks.So nice that one of your dogs lived to be 20 or was it 21?,and on comercial dog food.I say that because of a site a looked up that claims most of the dog food is tainted with stuff that can give dogs cancers and such.One claim they made was that some firm in California I think it was,that makes dog food was using pets that were put to sleep at the animal shelter and the drug used to put them to sleep,is in the dog food and getting into our dogs.Some dogs,no doubt,have a good immune system against all the gunk they are putting in most dog foods.Years ago,I had fed my two dogs (Trixie passed 12/20/12) the usual dry dog food they always ate...but I did not know they had re-called it...and both dogs had eaten the whole 50 pound bag befor I read the re-call on it at the store...I was so worried & upset.Much better to just make up your own dog food than trust most of the big name brands as there is so much they don't want us to know as to what they are really adding to the foods dogs eat. Yes,I have heard of people baking their own dog biscuits,my hat's off to each one that does that.Some day I hope to give it a try. Good day I wish you,and all the pets you take care off...more good people are needed like you. I have learned a lot from reading your post and others on here.

autumnsmile Counce, TN 53, joined May. 2009	Days short of 21 years.I have 2 pics of him in my profile.On the shelf above my desk with his ashes, I have a pic of him taken in Cave in Rock,Ill. I can almost visualize how the wind was ruffling his hair in that pic and I look at it everyday.Tinker and I were inseperible.Once someone gave him a bit of hamberger and he suffered pancreatiis.It was horrible!He spent several days in the vet hospital and by the time it was over the vet diagnosed us both with seperation anxiety.The whole time he was in the hospital my coworkers would comment things like"It just don't seem rt seeing her w out that lil black dog."
