Is there anyone in Tennessee that loves scary movies as much as I do? I'm dying to go see the new "The Conjuring"!

If you are into suspense movies, I might suggest "Duel" ( 1971 ). It lacks in dialog but it is a thriller in a way culminating with a clever trap. I believe it is also available on Netflix, and is also on Youtube, but the quality might suck a little bit.

A quote from the back of the beta ( similar to a VHS tape, but smaller ) dust sleeve that I have.

"A duel is about to begin between a man, a truck, and an open road. Where a simple battle of wits is now a matter of life and death. Its the most bizarre murder weapon ever used - the killer's weapon, a 40 ton truck. The terror is in your rear view mirror when the headlights of a truck become the eyes of a psychopath."

edit: first time I saw it as a kid, I cried I was so scared.

Haven't seen either one! However, if you want to go "old school", I highly suggest you watch The Bad Seed.....the black and white version. If you don't know anything about it, its about the sweetest little girl who always dresses in beautiful gowns and pigtails. She seems adorable until she doesn't get her way, then violently murders anyone who disagrees. Yum!

A definite horror addict here

And I definitely agree with with some of the above comments - I don't think newer movies in general are as good - nowadays they seem to think a movie is better just because it has better special efects

I remember watching Duel as a kid - and I own the DVD. Not horror, but good suspense.

This is a little newer, but a good suspense thriller for me would have been Fracture with Anthony Hopkins!

@miss...I have to disagree a little on Pet Semetary....when the kid gets hit by the semi-truck I get very horrified because the little boy looks very similar to my 2 year old son. Too close to reality instead of the "what if" scenario. Feel me?

I have to be a leper, here, and completely defend the new age horror movies. I believe its as simple as, you're desensitized. Once you reach a point of watching every horror movie that comes out, nothing is impressive as what drove you to enjoy those movies when you were younger. Just imagine yourself with a fresh view, having never seen a horror movie before, and then watching the remake of, The Evil Dead. I believe it would be safe to say, you'd not sleep with the lights off for awhile.

Supernaut: I've seen that movie ...both the original and the remake....and I have to say I was slightly disappointed! The trailer for the movie showed the wicked demon girl in the cabin cellar humming a child's tune while peering through the crack of the floor. HOWEVER.....this scene was never actually placed in the movie! That scene in the trailer ALONE made me want to see the movie!

"Invasion of the Pod People" ( 1956 ). I think it is a good movie. If you are into horror movies with cheesy directing, then "Night of the Lepus" ( 1972 ) is one for you. I happen to have it on projection reel from a movie theater that was going out of business in my teens years.

True, however, we can make our own version of that. I have a battery powered skill saw that can be used to create the movie "The Tennessee skill saw massacre"

The Conjuring was pretty decent. Liked it better than the Paranormal Activity that have come out.

Try the movie "Suck"......it's like a campy vampire movie about a band trying to make it big, but it has all the rock 'n' roll icons like Iggy, Alice, and others. I was surprised at the plot....still campy, but worthy of a watch.
