Yummy recipe for Sally Lunn those of you who don't know it is a yeast bread. I make it and I love it so does my fam.
*This recipe is from my Better Homes & Garden Bread Cook Book 1963 got it from my aunt.
Ingredients:
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c warm water
1 c. Warm milk (I use whole)
1/2 c. Butter/ margarine
1/4 cup sugar
3. Eggs
4 c. All purpose Flour
1 tsp. Salt
Use two 8 x 4 x 2 loaf pans or one 10 inch tube pan Well greased I use butter.
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in water. Cool milk till luke warm and set aside.
2. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, mix well after each. Add flour and salt to cream mixture alternately with yeast/water mixture.
3. Beat until smooth. Cover with damp cloth or kitchen towel and let rise until double size about 1 hour.
4. Punch down, and pour into well greased pans/pan. Cover and let rise for 40 mins until double size. Preheat oven to 350
5. Bake at 350 for 30 mins or till golden. Serve hot with butter or honey.
