With all of the roller coaster rides dealing with bereavement I've learned that laying some burdens down to move on doesn't mean that I don't love them anymore.

My healing for 2014 started early in the year. My oldest daughter married this weekend. I anticipated a long painful day. This day was one he and I had looked forward to for years. To see your child grow into a beautiful, emotionally and physically healthy woman. To share the love and excitement of a young couple starting their journey is the fruit of the parents commitment to each other and their children. He was supposed to be with me, that was our 'Day' too!
I laughed, I cried, I danced the father daughter dance with our daughter. The day was joyful , I am healing, life really is for the living. I will be with my love again someday but I need to finish living this life first.

So beautifully written. I hope that the new life of marriage will allow you to spring forward in ways that bring joy to you beyond your spouse. Your will to keep it moving inspires me. Take care always and know that life is there if YOU want it. Congrats to your daughter!!

Thank you. I've been dreading that part of that day. My daughter is just 11, but I look forward to her wedding with such conflicting emotion, and for the reason you state above.

So thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings, and how it wasn't dreadful.

Today would have been my 32nd wedding anniversary, and I spent the day deciding that (after 6 1/2 years)I was ready to really forgive my husband for the abuse I took for 25 1/2 years. I even managed to come up with one happy memory so...I'm out of the anger stage of grief.

I have been in a relationship for 5 months and this man has had the patience of a saint since going into the relationship I didn't believe I could trust any man and he has paid the price for what my husband put me through. I guess what I'm trying to say (and not very well) is that not every man is a cheater and mentally, emotionally and physically abusive. No matter how many times my husband told me I was the reason he drank, I am now sure he drank because he was an alcoholic and nothing I did or did not do could change that. And, more importantly, I now know I AM worthy of being treated like a real person and not some piece of garbage that deserved the abuse.

I am grateful that I can say and honestly mean this: Bob, I sincerely hope that wherever you are that you found the peace you couldn't find on earth!

I told him on his deathbed that I forgave him because Hospice suggested that if I knew of anything he might have been waiting for since he had been in a coma for a few days. He died about 5 hours after I told him. Took me months to forgive myself for lieing and years to really mean it.

Yes, I am blessed to have found someone that accepts me as I am... baggage and all. He is truly, truly a wonderful man who has went through Hell because of my baggage.

2014 has got to be a great year! My husband of almost 26 years passed away suddenly at the age of 45 six years ago. Last year I found a lump in my breast and went through a mastectomy, chemo and reconstructive surgery. 2014 is my year and I am ready for it!

Good Morning Im glad to find this thread. My story is quite different than most . At the age of 18 I was introduced to a man by his father we both worked at the news paper office in town. I fell head over heals for this man he was the love of my life. We lived together and dated off and on for almost 4 years. our end had come. I went on to marry and raise children. I found myself divorced after 22 years of marriage. what a hard time indeed. I had been separated for a year and a half and going threw a horrid divorce and children leaving home. I was on a sister site to this one and one day there was a message from my long lost love. We chatted for almost a year back and forth. He had asked me out and I refused I couldn't stand to be hurt by him again, I knew how he rolled! But there came a day I was led to go talk to him and it was love at first sight for both of us. He was very different now some how. We started dating and he had proposed to me. We were exactly where we needed to be, we were true soul mates. I lost him December 15th 2012 to a massive heart attack it took the air right out of me. I will never be the same I miss him so very much! The grief has been overwhelming, I think of him every day all day.I see him in my dreams. I am starting to live again but I don't think I will ever fully recover. I would like to make friends who understand this kind of pain and maybe learn how others have dealt with such a loss and grief to help myself heal. Blessing to all PEACE!
