EXCELLENT UPDATE - you can walk, or trot - even if your knees are shot.

"YES!!! Walk or run dosent matter please post for her. She was an excellent lady."; says Gym Love.

I know very little about many things but I do know to EVEN qualify to hit the asphalt in the Boston Marathon - it takes a year or more of top rated qualifying time in rated EVENTS by age group to "bib" up and there are most certainly no deductions offered for number of birthed in a lifetime.)

My knees are TORCHED from running but I will log just under 10 miles on Sunday.

How much have you heard/read about/believe in a more minimalist shoe or the barefoot running movement?

I was told not to by my trainer because long distance is hard and you need the support on your legs and feet. Also shock the road is hard and it will tear up your joints. I have also asked a few of my friends who are pro runners and they said NO!!! A good shoe that is ONLY used for running is what you need if you go over 500 miles then you need a new pair after that or after 4 months. Very important. I'm getting another pair at the end of the the month or on the middle of February. I only have around 300 miles in these but I can tell there getting looser on the support and it's been a little over 4 months now so it's time.

No I totally agree with that part of it. But I guess e part of it that I'm interested in is how doing SOME training with a minimalist shoe can help you correct stride problems and strike problems. I've always been a strong heel striker and I've done SOME training with minimalist shoes, and a little TOTALLY BAREFOOT and your stride has to change. You can't heel strike a bare heel and NOT cut it open or have awful pain. Just curious if anybody out your way has ever encouraged incorporating SOME barefoot-sequence training into a regimen.

You land more flat foot. It makes your stride shorter. But that's not always a good thing. It's a hit and miss honestly. I mean some ppl love it but most of the ppl I run and talk to advise against it.

It truly depends on you. I was told by many runners if your racing its ok if you have a light running shoe but barefoot running is not good. Your bones need support as well. Also it's more stress on the ankle. I won't do it. Not going to even try it. I want the support and I don't want my joints or knees anymore messed up. It's truly not worth it. Causes more problems than its worth in the long run seen it happen to a few runners I know and they wish they'd never have done it.

How long did you run barefoot for? Any injuries or problems you can assuredly say came from running barefoot?

Ran 4 miles inclined heavily on Friday. (while watching the bachelor. There's some hot ladies on the show, that's my motivation lol)

Worked and danced Friday and Saturday night. Feels good to spin and flip and do all my old moves again.

Working today. Might be able to get a run in after work.

My fitbit flex says I've already walked 4 miles while at work though.

IT band you say?

i fought that in high school. see if your gym offers a yoga class. i've noticed a lot less issues with it since doing yoga regularly. there's a "pigeon" pose, and then the seated pigeon where you cross one ankle on top of your knee, as your leg is bent on the floor, and stretch that.

it hurts from your knee all the way up to your butt cheek

ouchie

i've been sick. worked out saturday. raun 2.5 miles and did weights and pilates. spent all day on the couch yesterday though. we will see what i can accomplish today without wheezing and coughing up a lung

i use my foam roller more than my dildo

but no really. i use it a lot. i'm in love with it. it's amazing. my gym also has them. i use them every day depending on what muscles i worked. i find it works for me better to use it right after a workout, than to wait a day or two and be really stiff and sore. the sauna is also VERY nice. do my stretches in there. drink my full bottle of water. and then i get to call it a workout.
