I am a widow dating a wonderful man that is also. I caught myself calling him my husbands name twice recently during normal conversation.
Have you done this?
What does it mean?

I've done it a few times myself. It doesn't help that they both have short, one-syllable names with the same vowel sound.

I think it's natural, and it didn't bother him that I did that. About a week ago or so, he did sort of the same thing to me, and he's divorced, not widowed. I think people do that kind of thing relatively often. You've fallen into a conversation that is comfortable and familiar, that is like what you remember emotionally, I think, so sort of fall into an old habit and use the wrong name.

I wouldn't put too much thought into it. It's not like you're secretly thinking the new guy is the old guy. It's just a brain fart.

I think it's more a matter of habit than anything. Like calling one of your children by their siblings name instead of their own. You've just been so used to talking to a certain person for so many years, that the name just comes out like second nature. I wouldn't worry about it.

Quote from emeraldmystery:
Oh its horrible what a put down that you cannot figure out his name by now...No one has ever done that before your the 1st...It means your not over your husband and this guy is a rebound...When you really see him as completely different than your other relationships being that husband,boyfriends,brothers...Then it will not happen again...

What? This is moronic..... it happens all the time to people. Hell just the other night In a mild disagreement, i called my gf (Steph) Tina. Tina hasnt been around since 2009. But i spent 10 years with her. It happens. Same goes for when sharing stories. I dont know why people get mad about a story you share from your past just because it includes an ex. Um.... hello? They were part of our past. They dont just fade from the memories, stories, pictures, etc.

As a male on this site their are several women that know my first name, and some know my last.

As for the sex you should make a fake profile with a mans name and see how many women write just wanting sex. It's not gender based.
Also you might be surprised at how many nude pics have been sent to me on the first message from a woman. I just block and delete them.

You are so wrong & you sound like a man hater. I hope you can find a way to get past all that & become happy again.

LOL don't sweat it. Doesn't mean anything. It is just a typical brain fart we all do occasionally. As long as you call him for supper he isn't going to care.

My now late husband, when we first met called me by his late wife's name....it was uncomfortable, but he did apologize. I understood though, they had been married a long time. That is also my fear when I meet someone new, but I do agree, it's just a "brain fart", things happen!
