 This old truck ran 2 months ago. Replaced battery cables, carburetor & starter. Starter turns when by-passed. Reinstalled. Nothing but lights (seatbelt light). Won't turn. Any suggestions?

 Make sure all of the fuse-links were reinstalled on the big electrical lug on the starter. You will need a test light for further testing. Please get one if you want help from me.

 As in not rusted. Solid. Yes.

Test light/volt meter. Volt meter will help. Are you getting any trace power at the starter? Is the ignition switch bad? Check the plug on the alternator too. I've seen where that can mess with the currents.

check the motor and make sure it,s not locked up

 well just take it to a repair shop, and a real mechanic, it will probably save you some money, and a lot of aggravation. and your problem will go away.

 A meter is helpful, but not by checking resistance here. the circuit you are 'most' interested first, Battery===negative====>Ground. Next, Battery===positive====ignition switch=====clutch switch/neutral safety switch=====starter(purple wire) small starter post. You will need a helper.

 could very well be the ignition switch. loose wire possibly i had a 84 k10 the ignition switch would turn power on but not crank starter. rigged a toggel switch for starting it

 What year and model. Sometimes its the module in the distributor. Are you getting fuel and spark? Check fuel pressure and coil.

Thanks for you help. It worked. idk Does gasoline turn bad? It had been sitting in the desert before we bought it.

 Yes gas does go bad. You can smell it. Open the gas cap on your jeep, don't get too close and sniff. Now do the same on the PU. Just add fresh gas and some drigas

It will still run on "old Gas". Just run rough.
How long has it sat in total? Longer then the 2 months?

 Had carburetor rebuilt. Installed. Lost main bolt to hold air filter finally got it started with a new starter AND new battery. Live and Learn. Thank you everyone for your input, advice and expertise. btw that Chevy was traded as barter for labor on my Jeep. (Fuel pump and starter) it went to a good home where it will be restored to its original glory. I just don't have the funds right now.

it sat for 2 years. New gas was added and it ran like a champ. My DH guy drove it down Highway 58 to 14 and he didn't know how fast he was going because the speedometer is broken. DaRn! I was going 75 mph trying to follow the mechanic behind him in my Jeep. Helicopter overhead Duh! Speed checked by radar.
