With all of you that have been single for 3+ years, how would you explain your reasons for being single so long? Mine honestly, is lack of guys seeking actual, committed relationships. I've seen way too many men who say they want a relationship, but turn to talking about only sex. The other type of men, lie on their profiles. They do drugs, can't/don't see their kids, or they have an extensive criminal history. Why would I allow someone like that around MY children? LOL

I've stayed single for so long because between raising kids full time, going to school full time, and then working part-full time didnt leave much time for dating.
And now that I've been done with school it's been hard finding someone who is looking for a relationship, they seem to only be looking for sex. So I've kinda given up

I'm in a committed relationship, but I'm still a single parent. He doesn't share my bills or child raising responsibilities. I was a single parent for 9 years before I got married to the ex. I've been a single parent for almost 4 since the ex moved out.

Going on 12 yrs now. Started out with 4 children (2 girls//2 boys), now down to my 2 boys.
Dated off and on and a few relationships along the way, but so far there is no staying power with a woman no longer raising children with me still having kids. But I'm never changing that in me being a parent, even if it means me being single/alone the rest of my life. The irony of the term "Single" Parent.

14 years this past Feb. I miss the companionship someone to talk to
or confide in but it is what it is. My kids as all single parents kids ( their own kids )
needed me. I made the choice ( wasn't a hard choice) that my twins came first
and to hell with every thing else within my life.
I wouldn't change a thing either.

I have had one short relationship since I left my daughter's father in Feb 2010. She was born October 209. By the standards posted here even that relationship barely counts. Approximate 4 months which the last two he would not see me or let me visit him.
I get asked why I am single quite a bit, and it's many reasons. Mostly that I am very picky and never get approached by men I am interested in. In fact to be blunt the majority of those who 'flirt" with me I actually find either desperate or repulsive. (Imagine the types of creeps standing outside Home Depot looking for illegitimate work or outside the convenient store asking for spare change. No joke!) Sometimes I feel like I must be repulsive myself since they are the main men showing interest. But I usually come out of my slump. Look in the mirror and realize/convince myself that I do deserve better and that when the time is right a man whom I am actually attracted to will show the same interest in me, and things will evolve naturally from there. As they have for so many other couples.

I've been a single mother for 4 months after being with my daughters father for 6 years. It's been a really rough breakup and he has completely changed his personality towards me. He has called me b***h in front of my daughter and continues to treat me like dirt. So yeah, its been really hard to get my life back.

I have been a single parent, withmy kids father not in the picture at all for about 5 and a half yrs now..
and..I'm okay with that, being the type of person he is, and negative influence,
he was abusive towards me, and..snatched my son out of my arms as if he were a toy, I was cheated on, and ..well. I am just glad I got away finally, wasted a few yrs of my life..but, finally woke up realized I deserved better",and I will never settle for less..ever again"!!
And..no more broken promises to me, or my kids, etc, etc.
I rather be single the rest of my life, and never know what love is ..than to be in a relationship, give my all, get hurt, and feel nothing in return".
Being a single parent has molded me into the good woman I am today, and has made me stronger.
