Some summer, I'd like to fly into Duluth, get a rental car and then go up to Ely, MN to see the Wolf Center and the Bear Center. Then after that, I would go to Grand Portage. I would time it for the time in August where the Powwow and the Voyageurs Reenactment Encampment is happening at Grand Portage.
I would stay at a motel in Ely and the casino hotel/lodge in Grand Portage.
Just wondering what that part of northern Minnesota is like in August? Are there lots of bugs and mosquitoes at that time of year? Also, what are the temperatures like along with the wedding?
Also, is it worth it to take the ferry from Grand Portage to Isle Royale National Park?
Any info that you Minnesotans can provide will be helpful.

Well as far as August in northern Minnesota it is usually the best weather as far as I am concerned and if you are concerned our state bird in the summer is the mosquito. Not too bad temperature is in the 70s still in august but it can be anything in between.
