I havent met anyone from there as of yet but I'm curious about the culture and history. There are some amazing castles to see, I love the food and beer.

depends on where you go, just like anywhere else really. that being said, when I was in Hamburg a nice couple lent me their loft for a few nights and made sure I had breakfast and dinner every day
never really had any issues there, unlike Greece, there are some rather hostile places in Greece if you're American, anti-us graffiti all that, good times

Germans have to Americans in comparison although should not generalize, not so good, open-minded, honest, responsible, human, healthy and sane characters.

I was stationed in Aschaffenburg Jan 90-May 92, and I loved it. Wished I'd gotten my paperwork in to extend and stay there another year-and-a-half. Don't screw around with the DB; if the schedule says 12:05, that train is leaving at 12:05.
