Do you have friends who ask you to setup their new phone? Or you are setting your new phone up.

Are there specific apps that you include in your toolbox?

What are they?

I've been using a Droid mostly because my clients requirements. I have an older Iphone that I love too.

The phone I use most of the time is not mine but a clients so I can not root it.

Here are the apps:

1. Google Voice - A bich'n idea that needs more functionality but is getting there. This works with the Google Voice system that gives you a new portable #, allows you to control multiple destinations to receive a call (ie. if someone calls your google voice # you can have it ring several phones), caller directing, etc. Needs better SMS controls. Currently it is txt only but you can get around it. Also, their system occasionally encounters long delays for receiving txt messages.

2. ES File Explorer - Fairly decent and elaborate file and application management app. Also works with some cloud storage & networks

3. Google Play Music - Really cool music manager. You put your collection up in their cloud. Then you can access it via this app. Also, you can access your local music collection. My music collection is fairly extensive. Is google going to sell me out though?

4. GPS Status & Toolox - This helps you get a faster GPS lock, is good at letting you lock in one particular spot and return to it, etc. If you do a lot of back country, have a job that puts you in some hostile territory and need to ascertain a position quick, etc. this is it.

5. Photo Editor by dev.macgyver - Keeps getting better. Great photo editor. Gets it done

6. Cloud Print - Still in beta but works with an occasional bug or two. I have a lot of my clients printers connected through google cloud. If they are having an issue getting a report, I'll generate it remotely and print to their printer. Saved my a** many times when I was deep in the jungle & client in the city needed a plot or something

7. (Google) Drive, Sheets, Docs - I use the Google Drive system a lot. I keep threatening to move to another system but haven't so I use this. I need something different or need to do some custom work in Forms.

8. MapMyFitness - I use this primarily for the cadence and to know what my current speed is. Hearing it every mile helps me increase my speed. I will bicycle ride fairly long distances (100 miles) but not for competition but instead for leisure / necessity. I get distracted and slow my a** down too much. I constantly am running late. If a voice tells you "86 miles current speed 3 mph" and you are on your bicycle needing to arrive somewhere at a certain time then that is awesome. Without it, things take a lot longer. Use this for any sort of activity. I use it for sprints, jogging, bicycle riding. You can do a lot with this like connect it to your heart monitor, keep track of calories you consume and use, communicate with friends who use the system, locate hikes, trails, etc. in the area, etc.
The locating of trails in the area is pretty awesome. Currently I travel between US & Mexico a lot and mostly at night. I love knowing routes that others have used. If you are blazing a foreign country at night & know that there are plenty of corrupt cops & military, you need this app. But do a little research because most of the corruption in the world is motivated by monetary gain & money is a strange motivator for people to learn what their prey's tools are. Plus, the other users gps accuracy is either an asset or deficit in this situation.

9. Google Earth - I travel & this is awesome

10. Yelp - love it. if you use it then it is fairly decent. a little heavy weight though.

11. Soundcloud - awesome music system. If you know what it is, this is a decent complimentary app. The recording feature is sweet too. I set this to only dl with wifi. When I go to an area that I have wifi hooked up, i get rewarded all the time. I am not a pro, not by far. But I love music. There r so many talented people on here it is incredible. A lot of them are receptive to your communication too. The place isn't saturated with a**holes yet so good times can still be had.

12. Instagram - I love this. Again, not a pro photographer but my desire to go out there fearless & foolishly puts me in some divine spots to get some great photos. I wish it was easier to switch between accounts. My family and close friends are on an account that I also am on with some controversial figs and industry. If it was easier to setup and switch between profiles, I would hit IG hard with some crazy $hit. Instead, I don't know.

13. Chrome - although it is bloated. Looking for the perfect browser for the cell. eventually i will find.

14. RemoteDesktop - allow remote control of your cpus via chrome plugin

15. Waze - ok. Bloated. I like some of the features on there like the user reports
Also, send an eta to a friend who will get updates too

Why do you use your clients phone most of the time? Busybox would be a good idea, if you had root, not difficult and su. I tend to use ROMs that have very little to do with google. They did not invent phones or searching or Linux witch is every phone that runs android.
