On the 1 July I replaced my blower motor as it was making a really bad grinding noise as well as a no air being forced out of the ducts. Upon further inspection after removal, I found it was very difficult to turn the shaft, even with the squirrel cage removed. I replaced the blower motor with a new one from the local flaps and it has worked fine up until today. I was on my way home from work when I hit the switch for the AC and it started grinding again.
It seems to me that it was a little hinky to have two blower motors go out within a month of each other and both of them having the exact same issue. I did probe around with a volt meter and the voltage going to the blower motor registered 14 volts. Is it possible that the excess voltage fried the blower?
All of the related issues I can find on-line have to do with a blower motor not having enough voltage to operate. I am leaning towards something with the resistor, however, I am not electrically inclined when it comes to troubleshooting electronic devices, and to be honest, I don't even know where to attempt to start with this problem. The manuals that I have do not cover anything of this nature.
I know where the resistors are for the blower motor and I did check them out to see if there was any burnt pins or melted wires and there were none. I was able to locate the resistor in the air duct and it was intact, however, the manual doesn't state the resistance of each resistor. I also did a check for any debris clogging the fan ducting.
Another strange anomaly is that thee voltage appears to be the approximately same no matter what setting the switch on the dash is at.
In the down position ( low ) the voltage going to the motor was 14.17
In the first middle position ( the lower one ) the voltage going to the motor was 14.17
In the second middle position ( the upper one ) the voltage going to the motor was 14.19
In the up position ( high ) the voltage going to the motor was 14.22 volts.
If it helps, my car is a 1988 Chevy Celebrity ( don't laugh, it is paid for, gets me where I need to go 99.9% of the time, and it actually has a real bumper on it )

the new blower may be bad when you bought it, several years ago, I bought 3 from advance auto before I got a good one, I got pretty good at taking the blower motors out, and re-installing them. lol.

Update: The blower motor turned out to be fine. The problem turned out to be a simple grounding issue ( ) which was nothing a wire wheel, a little sandpaper and some dialectic paste couldn't fix.

This may be a dumb question but have you looked down the pulleys to make sure they were straight? If they r not the usault squeek but if it was not pulling straight the barring inside would ware out fast and cause what Ur explaineing
