Answer, No. Before be became elightened, he was Prince Siddhartha Gotama. He gave up all the pleasures of life in the search to end suffering and pain. "The Blessed One" as I like to reffer to him, was merely a man, like you and me. He just saw the Ultimate reality of all things. People who say that Buddhists pray to the Buddha would be mistaken. When a person (who is a Buddhist) prayes, we aren't really praying to the Buddha but aknowledging that he is our teacher and showing respect. We also pray for the wellfare and happiness of all living beings.
Just thought I'd put this out there. As my dad used to say, "just another fun filled fact from you're ole Ucle Lare!" LOL!! Namaste!
