Now that the weather is getting nice, let's plan a get-together for peeps in the Poteau/Fort Smith area. Open to all kinds of venues, I.E. bowling, hibachi grill, casino, Eagles. I'm thinking mid to end of Oct.

I've been to some and had a great time meeting area locals...Lunch and drinks afterwards in Stroud,Pizza in Okmulgee,coffee & lunch in Tulsa a couple of times,and a float trip down the Illinois river. ten of us went in together for a cabin for ten(10 dollars apiece)that night and left the next day,and some of us stayed in a motel in Tahlequah the night before to hang out at the Casino and be at the river the next morning....It would be really cool if it was still decent riding weather on the Bike.

Casino? That one I don't get. The last place I'd ever set a foot in is a casino, let alone to party the night away with other singles. I'd sooner hit a nightclub.

It's the element Earl ... Free food is one thing, but I would think an environment more conducive to romance to be more appropriate for single folks in search of companionship.
Ya know, it's funny, because the area casinos routinely flood local TV with advertisements involving ecstatic people enjoying the rowdiest times of their lives, but the last time I accompanied a lady to one (had to be 25 years ago in Atlantic City), it looked like to me the walking dead tethered to addictions they had absolutely no control over.

I pass Poteau a lot going to see family in Arkansas.
We use to have one almost monthly in Oklahoma.

Forgive me itsalmostime. Just shows you how far removed I am from establishments catering to gambling. I had no idea how diverse they'd become over the years, but the place you have in mind sounds like fair option indeed.

I'm game for it,but if it's going to be very far from Tulsa and runs into the evening as well as for riding the bike there,I'd want to have a room available nearby.

I only had the one, about 40 people showed up.
I think it was a success. 
Just do what YOU want to do. If you are doing all the planning "make it your own".
And don't count on but about 1/3 of signed up to attend.
You might click on different event's and see what was held in the past for ideas.
Let me know if I can be of some help...

Ok, I'm still thinking, but I'm leaning toward Fort Smith Fiji's at the Hibachi Grill or La Huerta's--they always feature free, live music outside on Sat night before it gets cold.

Its been awhile since I've been to Ft. Smith,I wouldn't mind going to see the old court house museum and hanging judge parkers courtroom too while there.

Anyone remember the Televised Dance Parties at Utica Sq. I sure enjoyed those, too.
