My saab has to be in reverse to crank...When I go to crank car it jerks/lunges backwards as if clutch is not engaged..and doesn't crank..
Many said something about a switch or adjusting clutch..
Anyone has any comments of how to self fix.. I really do not want to pay a Saab shop ...

We need the year and model. If it is a 1981 it will be a different problem than a 1999.

I'm just assuming that it has a hydraulic clutch. Which means you either need a master cylinder or slave cylinder. Jmo

ive taken it to a female owned shop in downtown just behind GT but they charge a fortune plus the tow is $187....im a little handy and can do minor stuff.......Im so freaking tired of working on it.. I just need to get it running and trade it for a less expensive make and model...

If the car is jerk in while cranking then the clutch is still coupled to the flywheel. I would try adjusting the pedal to get more travel and see if the helps.

Without seeing this….. If you have a hydraulic clutch system, try pressure bleeding the clutch line (kind of like a brake line) to get any air or sludge out of the line and see if that helps. It’s usually the simplest and cheapest thing before getting too deep into the car. Do a search on the internet about this type of procedure.
