What happened to all the nice guys?

The answer is simple: you passed them up.

See, if you think back, really hard, you might vaguely remember a Platonic guy pal who always seemed to want to spend time with you. He'd tag along with you when you went shopping, stop by your place for a movie when you were lonely but didn't feel like going out, or even sit there and hold you while you sobbed and told him about how horribly the (other) guy that you were f**king treated you.

At the time, you probably joked with your girlfriends about how he was a little puppy dog, always following you around, trying to do things to get you to pay attention to him. They probably teased you because they thought he had a crush on you. Given that his behavior was, admittedly, a little pathetic, you vehemently denied having any romantic feelings for him, and buttressed your position by claiming that you were "just friends." Besides, he totally wasn't your type. I mean, he was a little too short, or too bald, or too fat, or too poor, or didn't know how to dress himself, or basically be or do any of the things that your tall, good-looking, fit, rich, stylish boyfriend at the time pulled off with such ease.

Eventually, your Platonic buddy drifted away, as your relationship with the boyfriend got more serious and spending time with this other guy was, admittedly, a little weird, if you weren't dating him. More time passed, and the boyfriend eventually cheated on you, or became boring, or you realized that the things that attracted you to him weren't the kinds of things that make for a good, long-term relationship. So, now, you're single again, and after having tried the bar scene for several months having only encountered players and douche bags, you wonder, "What happened to all the nice guys?"

Well, once again, you did.

You ignored the nice guy. You used him for emotional intimacy without reciprocating, in kind, with physical intimacy. You laughed at his consideration and resented his devotion. You valued the aloof boyfriend more than the attentive "just-a-" friend. Eventually, he took the hint and moved on with his life. He probably came to realize, one day, that women aren't really attracted to guys who hold doors open; or make dinners just because; or buy you a Christmas gift that you mentioned, in passing, that you really wanted five months ago; or listen when you're upset; or hold you when you cry. He came to realize that, if he wanted a woman like you, he'd have to act more like the boyfriend that you had. He probably cleaned up his look, started making some money, and generally acted like more of an a**hole than he ever wanted to be.

Fact is, now, he's probably getting laid, and in a way, your ultimate rejection of him is to thank for that. And I'm sorry that it took the complete absence of "nice guys" in your life for you to realize that you missed them and wanted them. Most women will only have a handful of nice guys stumble into their lives, if that.

So, if you're looking for a nice guy, here's what you do:

1.) Build a time machine.
2.) Go back a few years and pull your head out of your ass.
3.) Take a look at what's right in front of you and grab a hold of it.

I suppose the other possibility is that you STILL don't really want a nice guy, but you feel the social pressure to at least appear to have matured beyond your infantile taste in men. In which case, you might be in luck, because the nice guy you claim to want has, in reality, shed his nice guy mantle and is out there looking to unleash his cynicism and resentment onto someone just like you.

If you were five years younger.

So, please: either stop misrepresenting what you want, or own up to the fact that you've f**ked yourself over. You're getting older, after all. It's time to excise the bullshit and deal with reality. You didn't want a nice guy then, and he certainly doesn't f**king want you, now.

Sincerely,

A Recovering Nice Guy

The words "I want a nice guy" have never come out of this mouth.

I just asked for a guy who can BBQ and willingly handed over his wallet.

somebody missed a golden opportunity to mention weight and looks.
it could have ballooned into fat and hag thread territories as well.

Other than one exception, I've only ever dated nice men. they had to be nice men that "I" found attractive.

I've said it before......

I'm a nice woman, have a job, I'm not too hideous to look at, I'm a pretty good cook and I have all my teeth.

That doesn't mean that every man looking for a nice woman to date is going to be interested in me.

I'm just sick to death of the poor me nice guy threads. Y'all don't date women just because they're nice, you date women you're attracted to, get over yourself.

And no man..............

Had a caring woman....kind...cute/pretty....who listened to his dreams....had his back....

Answered the phone at 2 am when that "hot sexy af ...great in bed" crazy b*tch threw him out...set his stuff on fire.......was found in bed with his best friend.....

Who let him sleep on her couch....made him something to eat.......listened to him vent for hours if not days ........

Only to see him go back to the crazy.......over and over again...........

She would tell him over and over he was worth more...cause she saw more in him than he saw in himself..........

Slowly she retreated...........some wonderful man saw the wonderful in her...........and she vanished ...........

No man ever saw her later........with her man...her smile....her glow............

And thought..................damn.

Nooooooooooooooo this never happened at all........

So............on behalf of all of the former.......IGAF woman.......we DGAF now.

As a counselor, you would not find success. Your profiling sucks as well. I'm assuming you're a shit stirrer.

She would tell him over and over he was worth more...cause she saw more in him than he saw in

Here we f**king go

Slowly she retreated...........some wonderful man saw the wonderful in her...........and she vanished ...........

No man ever saw her later........with her man...her smile....her glow............

And thought..................damn.

Nooooooooooooooo this never happened at all........

So............on behalf of all of the former.......IGAF woman.......we DGAF now.

Welcome to Reality Op............ppl have done damage........to both sides.

Yeah, true. When was the last time I heard a guy say he was interested in meeting a 'nice' girl? 1989? But definitely not since the year 2000. See, the guys get all bent out of shape when we aren't interested in the 'nice' guy. But are they interested in the 'nice' girl? Of course NOT! aW, think it's time for me to go to bed now

Well eyes, I found a IGAF woman.

I am happy for you..............

However..............if you have a IGAF woman...why do you feel compelled to belittle the women of DH ?

Why do you attempt to make us look badly..........or feel badly ?

I could take a few guesses............but I am sure the smart women of DH......will follow suit with the ones above me............

And see right thru this bullshit to the real intent of it..........and the motivation behind it........

And Gio.................Oh damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

OMFG eyes! Satire? there was nothing serious about this! It was written during the massive consumption of Crown Royal and there was several women involved in the process. I've been both the nice guy and the a**hole. Nowa days Im just a guy.

I'm not responsible for what the women did in a man's life before me.
you don't stop being a nice person if you were ever really a nice person to start with.

Clearly you never realized how much of a d*ck you were. Maybe she didn't want a relationship with because you were like a sibling. Always being at an annoying distance from her when she was either single or just got out of a relationship. Ready to make her feel even worse about it.

By the way genius, you've gotten older as well.

Does it look like it is being taken as Satire ...Mensa ?

Does only pointing out my comment somehow negate ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL OF THE OTHER WOMEN POSTING on it ?

Does it look like the women of DH have fkn had it with being blamed....cussed....bashed...belittled.......harassed......attacked.....thread stalked.....etc by the supposed "men" of DH..........

Good...........cause we have.......

Our humor has been stripped..............or tolerance level has been reached......

And our loathing is increasing..........

Happy posting...........I assume you enjoyed making this thread......

There are some sour assed old women on here as well eyes. I'm responsible for my own actions and my actions have never been misogynistic. I will admit that misogyny and misandry run rampant on DH.

I will never lose my twisted humor. I still laugh when somebody does something stupid and gets hurt. Nor will I ever change the way I look at a situation.

As far as the other women posting butt hurt responses, maybe their past haunts them or theyre on the other end. Don't know and more importantly, I don't care. I'm enjoying life and have no intentions of that changing.

Clearly the inexperienced not a genius, has verbally burped. I call that a smart fart, it took the elevator.

I know when to be a d*ck and have mastered the act. Maybe you should read every post and figure out where I stand on it and if I even wrote it.

Whatever dude. You put up an angry thread about some guy being ignored and you got an answer to why. You obviously don't like it so what was the point of opening this thread?

Angry? You're fukd in the head

Obviously you lack the ability to see past your femmenist programming. This OP was mild in comparison to many of the gender bashing threads started on this site.

If you've been on here for more than 3 months and allow yourself to get angry or let anyone anger you, you're thin skinned and probably need to put your blinders back on. Nothing anyone posts on here will effect the eventual outcome of your life.

I doubt it will effect you but it can affect you.

OP what kind of reaction were you looking for?
