Why is there such a large disproportionate # of men on online dating sites? I assume there are just as many single women as men in the world at any given time. I guess most single women are just too shy to get on dating sites?

Because a woman will get attention from men anywhere at any time. They could get a date when they want one without trying. All they have to do is say "Yes" to any of the invites they get daily.
Men on the other hand will hear "no" more than he will hear "yes", so online dating sites are just another tool we use to TRY and find a date.

I can't speak for the other guys, but myself, working crazy hours at times does not leave me with too many options. Getting online if and when I can works better for me.
That being said, perhaps there are other guys like myself that do NOT want to start an office romance. For various reasons. This way, one can do a little looking and see what, if anything, would possibly work for us.
Now, there also are a lot of guys who are players. That end of it I just don't get. Myself, I can only handle arguing and fighting with one female at a time. Why add to it.?

I understand the responses given. I guess the question im wondering is where are all the single women at? Most of them DONT seem to be on online dating sites. Do most single women sit at home waiting for their prince to bust down the door and ask her out? That must be the case because the majority are not here.
