Give a call into Summit Racing. They will have the kit(s) needed, along with the technical advise and instructions.
However, ditch the idea of a 305, and go with the 350 instead. The 305 is basically nothing more than an under powered camshaft eating boat anchor. I tossed mine years ago into the scrap iron dumpster, and replaced it with a 327. But the 327's are getting a little harder to find right about now. 350's are available in a crate engine form, with power ratings depending upon your wallet size.

The best motor for that vehicle is the 4.0. You will need a donor vehicle since you will need, wiring harness and ECU. Transmission, drive shafts, radiator, shroud plus many more parts.
Or, a carbureted small block chevy. Adaptor kits are available at speed shops/catalogs. Keep in mind you will also need a custom exaust, bigger cat converter. You should consult your state emission standards. Here in PA to legally drive it on the road/ emission inspection, you will need to "R" title it.

That makes absolutely no sense. Why do you need a reconstructed title for an engine swap? I have buddies who have swapped motors in their trucks and cars in PA and have not needed to get an R title.

The way the emission laws a written. Someone's brother in law needs to make money. The vehicles must have the stock emission parts on the vehicle. They don't have to work, they just must pass "Visual Inspection." If you have an "R" title, this rule does not apply. Why? Beats me.

Go check out the Jeep forum sites & you will get plenty of answers.
Basically:
It's relatively easy to drop in a SBC 350 using custom motor mounts available.
But NONE of your current parts (from radiator to trans to axles) will hold up for very long w/ a V8 & decent tires. To make it reliable, you'd have to re-engineer just about everything. BIG bucks and alot of down time.
If you really want a V8 Jeep...you be WAY ahead to join a local 4X4 club & buy an already working rig. Less costly & less down time.
A TJ w/ the 4.0 six cylinder (especially if you do a 4.7 Stroker motor) is a VERY capable rig. Easiest would be to sell your 4 banger & get a 6.

The 4.0 is indeed a good power plant for that vehicle. I've been paying $700 for used 2.5L, they are hard to come buy since they poop around 140,000 miles.

Do a 350 not a 305.
