I heard on radio this morning that Richard Sherman (Seattle player) has a pregnant girlfriend [no surprise that]- who is within days of giving birth. Her doctor allowed her to fly to Arizona (site of game).

The "controversy"- is- Should Sherman leave the game and go to the hospital if she goes into labor?

Boy do I but out for redemption right now. Moving forward while not looking back. I see a brilliantly bright future. If I was having a child I would most certainly miss it and play football. Gotta support the team

highlight of his carrer
may never get a chance to do again

so i can understand it being a big deal

HOWEVER,
*I* would not miss my childs birth for anything....ifn i am capable of getting there

ie, likes of military deployment

during the preganacy wiht my 1st son
i was working and taking a pc a+ cert course
was in class, she called said she was going into labor
told teacher shut his mouth, b*tching bout phone ringing in class
told her i was on my way
grabbed my stuff ran for the truck, popped my right (gas/brake foot)ankle in the parking lot
still, turned on the e flashers and floored it all the way
foot hurt like hell, couldn't feel anything else
so was all gas or none... on, off, on, off, thru the tail end of rush hr traffic
grabbed her, hot footed to e room
false alarm
went home, me on crutches

2nd son, at 4 months old
his heart stopped
was in FD at the time
radioed in to dispatch, told them the situation and where i was going
notify dps, so, and city ahead of me
and away we went
hospital stabilized him
transported to tx childrens at houston med center
radioed back in, heading there
56 miles in under 20 mins, on new years night
parked in the parking garage and standing at the ambulance intake smokinga cigarrette when they pulled up

never once seen any cop

and he'd still be entitled, to some degree atleast, to what ever pay/benefits come from the game.

To him and his family this is his career and a goal that he has been training and working towards from the time he was a kid.

As a couple you should give some ground for your other to grow, earn, achieve etc... it's makes them happy first off second it will benefit the household. If you plan on keeping a healthy relationship this will help

I hope that Richard Sherman does the right thing and is by his girlfriend's side if she starts giving birth on Superbowl Day.

I've never dated a "career woman". I'm an educator with a master's degree who has dated women who were secretaries, CNAs, billing specialists, jury selection clerks, beauty supply store workers, etc. I did date a lawyer for one date, and she stuck me with paying for both expensive lunch and dinner that day (she made more money than me so she surely could have paid for one of the meals at least!)

But because of my career, sometimes I was not able to see a woman I was dating because on a particular weekend I had to grade research papers or grade final exams. She would get mad sometimes at that. Sometimes non-educators don't understand what educators go through.

Thnks folks great comments. I will be in and out a bit today.

I didn't miss either birth but I sure missed a lot of other things (active duty military).

One commentator said (I happen to agree)- That people (women) who marry/have children with people with these kinds of jobs-pro sports/military/doctors/cops etc....are "signing up" for the possibility that their partner may not be available to them 24/7....

Absence comes with the territory for some careers.

what happen to your catchphrase....while dating...... Im joking....well to answer the question.....that is a tall order but you have to think about this.....the job that someone has...i mean a career..you are going to miss out on a few things....but that person who is with that person with a career should have known from the get go....but there are a few exceptions....if they have a kid together or an anniversary comes up.....they have to work together with a plan

I was at work when my first wife went into labor with my second oldest daughter, as soon as I got the call I left! and it was my birthday!

If someone called now and said they were having my baby I don't know how far or fast I could run in the other direction!

I would and have...military spouse for 12 yrs. We were fortunate, he only missed a few birthdays, etc.

If he was in the Superbowl..I'd kick his a** if he left the game..lol. I'm not a huge football fan but I would be his biggest fan and women have been having babies on their own for centuries. It's one day.

Someday our child will watch the replay of that game and that will lead to the telling of many stories...life lessons.

I heard just yesterday on the radio that a survey was done. It was crazy as to how many said they would miss a delivery in order to watch the Super Bowl. Also, they would not attend a family funeral, or pick up their spouse at the airport, etc.

Now, I enjoy watching sports as much as the next guy but...These morons have their priorities properly in order.

I think that Richard Sherman will do the right thing and miss the Superbowl if his son is being born on Feb. 1st.

Is his pregnant girlfriend with him right now in Arizona, or is she back in Seattle preparing for the upcoming birth?

This is something that only those two can decide. For me, I would say stay in the game. And if I was there that would be all the better. Chances are if this is her first child, and she went into labor tomorrow, their baby wouldn't be born before the Super Bowl is over anyway. So why miss the game.

True...even members of the losing team get paid bonus money.

The losers get like 49,000 dollars each while the members of the winning team get in the 90,000 dollars range!

But Richard Sherman will get the 90,000 dollars.

I predict that the Seahawks will win the Superbowl!

ah always the dilema, career over personal. Yeah I missed two years straight of my daughter's stuff at school and that was enough for me..to make some shifts in priorities. Kids first..Mommy track here I come.

there's no winning here, he earns the $ and supports the lifestyle with that football career, so I'd say either set up a birthing room at the game..or understand why he's not there.

personally nothing trumps family, I'd be there.
