Well, my root cellar now looks extremely possible!!!
A buddy of mine brought his medium sized jackhammer over for me to try out on my root cellar hole that I started years ago, but gave up on because it took me over 3 days just to chip with a chisel and hammer about 2 feet into the damn bank!
Granted that for me to do this on a regular basis would kill my back as it has already...
BUT!!!
The damn thing did exactly what I was hoping it would!
I ended up spending more time getting the dirt out than actually running the hammer!
I'm gonna go online and find a smaller one because I think a smaller one would work just fine...
That pile is about 5 feet across and 2 and a half feet deep!
Took me three work sessions and three breaks to get this far though...
When I first started that hole, it took me over 3 days to chip a pile out that size! That pile took less than an hour and a half as screwedup as I am.
Part of the reason it's so hard to do, is that it is already 400 frickin degrees in that area!!!
Once I get into the earth it will cool off nicely!
This stuff is very similar to the stuff that wineries tunnel into for wine storage places!!!

Thats pretty cool I can see why you gave up at first that would be a back breaker for a much younger person.

I made it this far today...
It is still over 100 in that spot so I have not even tried it yet...
But, from what I have tried, if it works, it is going to be really easy!!!
One handed use for sure!!!
