I blame the do nothings in Congress that have one concern only "RE-ELECTION" . We as the American electorate spend more time researching our next car or truck than we do who we elect to positions that can have real and lasting effects on our lives and that of our families. TERM LIMITS are the real and lasting solution and no outrageous benefits or retirement. If you want a retirement get a real job. Their mantra is we serve the people. To that I say BullShit. The only ones they serve are themselves, their family and friends.

House Speaker John Boehner brushed aside a challenge to his tenure on Wednesday as the work of a lone dissident Republican amounting to "no big deal."
U.S. House conservative files motion to oust Speaker Boehner Reuters
The Real Danger from the GOP’s Latest Mutiny Against John Boehner The Fiscal Times
He said the effort by Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina to strip him of his powerful post "isn't even deserving of a vote."
Speaking at a news conference, Boehner said, "I've got broad support amongst my colleagues." He was elected to his most recent term as speaker in January over the opposition of Meadows and 24 other rank-and-file Republicans, the most to oppose a winning candidate of their own party in a century.
The Ohio Republican spoke one day after Meadows made his largely symbolic challenge, filing a formal proposal that — if approved — would force a new election by the entire House to pick a speaker. The proposal was referred to a committee stacked with Boehner's loyalists, and is unlikely to emerge.
Boehner is in his third term as speaker, a tumultuous tenure marked by challenges from tea party-aligned newcomers as well as a need to deal with President Barack Obama within divided government.
Meadows, who was disciplined earlier this year in a move backed by House leadership, said in his legislative proposal that Boehner "has endeavored to consolidate power and centralize decision-making, bypassing the majority of the 435 Members of Congress and the people they represent."
Meadows told reporters on Tuesday that he hoped his action prompted a "discussion" with Boehner and other House leaders "about representing the American people. It's about fairness."
Meadows said he wants Boehner and other GOP leaders to make sure that "every voice and every vote is respected, and votes of conscience are respected and not punished."
Democrats seized on the unrest.
"As the American people look to Congress for solutions to the challenges they face, they increasingly see a Republican Congress dominated by obstruction, distraction and dysfunction," Drew Hammill, a spokesman for House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, said on Wednesday. He added, "The American people deserve better."
The acrimony within the Republican Party has been on stark display in Congress. Last Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., of lying about votes. And more Republican infighting broke out Monday night as an email from an aide to Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, suggested that conservative groups should take Lee's fellow Republicans to task if they opposed him on a legislative maneuver to advance a repeal of President Barack Obama's health care law.
Lee's move angered Republicans, and Lee sought to contain the damage, telling colleagues in a closed-door meeting that he hadn't authorized the email.
The resolution Meadows filed accused the speaker of causing "the power of Congress to atrophy, thereby making Congress subservient to the Executive and Judicial branches, diminishing the voice of the American People." And it said Boehner "uses the power of the office to punish members who vote according to their conscience instead of the will of the speaker."
Last month, in a move backed by leadership, Meadows was briefly stripped of his subcommittee chairmanship over his votes, but later relented after conservatives objected.

Its a vicious cycle. Whoever gets power, keeps power by threatening to use the power.
Tileman, you are right, the only way to legally break the gangsters power cycle is term limits.
Boehner is a back stabbing liberal [in hiding] that has caved to almost everything on the liberals agenda and infact under his watch, taxes went up, obamacare was started, debt has increased, government has grown bigger, more entitlements have been created.....

If the Dems can use the so called nuclear option to get Obama's cronies in a government job. Why the hell can't the egg sucking establishments use the nuclear option to stop the nuclear deal with Iran.

Isn't it Boehner? Never trust a spineless, "conservative" Republican with all the balls of a baby girl who cries in public. Must be someone in the party better than this.

He sure as hell won't be missed by real conservatives.I would have like to see him get voted out,at least that would have sent a message to the next speaker that if they don't do what they were put there for they will be gone also.

Here is the article:
Republican House Speaker John Boehner will step down from his post as the country’s number-three elected official and leave Congress effective October 30, an aide told Yahoo News on Friday. The bombshell announcement came a day after Boehner fulfilled his two-decade dream to one day host the Pope at the Capitol.
The Ohio Republican’s decision was sure to touch off a divisive leadership fight among House Republicans even as lawmakers hunt for a way to avoid a looming government shutdown. There was no obvious successor.
“He is proud of what this majority has accomplished, and his Speakership, but for the good of the Republican Conference and the institution, he will resign the Speakership and his seat in Congress, effective October 30,” the aide to Boehner said on condition of anonymity.
“The Speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution,” the aide said.
Boehner’s decision emerged one day after he hosted Pope Francis. The speaker, a lifelong Catholic, was visibly emotional throughout the visit, including the pontiff’s address to a joint meeting of the Senate and House of Representatives, a first.
“Speaker Boehner believes that the first job of any Speaker is to protect this institution and, as we saw yesterday with the Holy Father, it is the one thing that unites and inspires us all,” the aide said.
“The Speaker’s plan was to serve only through the end of last year,” the aide said. But former Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s shock re-election loss “changed that calculation.”
Almost from the start of his speakership in early 2011, Boehner faced an insurgency from Tea Party Republicans unafraid to shut the government down.
That prospect loomed large over his announcement because a phalanx of conservatives have demanded that 2016 spending legislation strip Planned Parenthood of funding. That would trigger a showdown with Democrats and the White House that could lock up the process, shutting down the government. Senior GOP leaders worry that the public would blame Republicans, potentially costing them in the 2016 elections.
Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican who has sometimes stoked conservative anger in the House, said at the conservative Values Voters summit in Washington that the question of Boehner’s successor was up to the House.
But he quickly moved on to a lengthy critique of his speakership, blaming it for “volcanic” frustration among conservatives around the country.
Cruz, a contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, said he had “long called on Republican leadership to do something unusual, which is lead - to actually stand up and honor the commitments that we made to the American people.”
“We’ve had Republican majorities in both houses of Congress for coming up on a year now. And what on Earth have they done?” Cruz declared.

I guess we wait to see who will be the next speaker and if he/she will do the job the way it's supposed to be done.planned parenthood is a shit government organization that is at the head of the liberals most valued list. The real conservatives in congress had better defund it or there will be hell to pay.

It looks like Paul Ryan is going to try for the Speakers job.The last thing we need is another Rhino as speaker of the house. We need to have a person who will stand up to the establishment.Ryan is trying to make up his own rules to run for the job. These guys only work a few hours a day as it is.I'd really like to see Ryan Zinke (R-MT) get the job.look him up and see what I mean.

I'm a little skeptical about Paul Ryan. I don't trust any of them, that have been there very long. The longer they are in congress the more bull shit and back door deals they've been up to. Term limits is the best answer.
But hey he can't been any worse, can he?
